Spoiler Free Review:

 

Wow... i think that is the most i gasped at any Doctor Who epidode in a long time, so many bits i loved in it and so many things i didn't see coming. Favourite of the new Docs epidodes so far

Agreed. And how they take those unexpected elements forward shows promise for upcoming stories.

Yeah. I enjoyed this episode, far and away the best on of this series especially with that unexpected guest. Although I hope people thinking Graham is the Doctor isn't going to be a "thing".

Firstly, I enjoyed that episode more than I think any other 13th Doctor one so far.

Somewhat annoyingly, I think "Ruth" had more of the "Doctor" vibe we know and love than JW did. She owned the situation from the word go once she was restored - can we have #13 doing more of that please?!

Okay so I'm a little behind, but I liked Orphan 55.

 

Remembering that WE are not the target market for Who and haven't been since we were Adults I think it's important to make these points to the kids who are watching.

 

We are in a bad way with the climate, the world is spiraling towards a more violent outlook. What on earth is wrong with offering the kids some hope and telling them they can make a difference?

I'd consider it the duty of a program with a worldwide following such as this. Use your platform. Put out a positive message, encourage change for the better.

 

The writing still isn't the best, but the aim of passing positive messages to younger viewers is certainly commendable.

Correction... we are not the only target market for Doctor Who. If we weren't a target market, then who would care that a character from seasons ago, or even the classic series is back.

 

I agree that climate change is a very important matter... but the way it's handled in the episode I felt was insulting to the intelligence of a multitude of ages. I thought I was watching a PSA. ;)

To be fair, if non simple warnings got through to people we wouldn't be in this problem in the first place. People are idiots, 50% of them have a 2 digit IQ, and most of the ones in the other 50% are some combination of evil and stupid, trying to profit off destroying the planet they're still living on

 

It's not a message to kids, they know it's a problem.
