gbtb Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 We have used them for the last couple of years and never had any problems. We have 3/4 cages at a time and they collect once full and drop off the new ones the van drivers are always very friendly and helpful. 1
Achandler Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 We had an electronic waste bin at my old jsut that they provided, just use to ring up when it was getting near full and they would swap it out. Had to padlock it though, they said to stop people robbing from it. I personally think it was to stop other staff chucking random rubbish in it. 1

They provide a bin and recommend you padlock it so that nothing is stolen and incorrect items are put in it. When it's full, you call them and they come and take the bin and provide a replacement. We're based in Birmingham and I believe they're run out of Doncaster. They've no issues travelling here and the guy has always been friendly. They provide documentation for proof of disposal, which includes serial numbers. You can also get the documentation online, rather than paper if required. 1

The only person likely to rob from it is me when I'm hunting for electronic components We do get people sticking random crap in it though as they can't be bothered to look in and wonder why it's not already full of cardboard! 1

I dont know about the cages but the large bins they provide have the facility to add a padlock to it (which we've done) so you dont get people putting cardboard and other rubbish in them. When they come to collect it we simply transfer the padlock across to the new bin - we also have ours chained up to the wall so it can't go walkies either! Edited May 24, 2019 by Fazza 1

We failed a fire safety inspection on that, as if it's not chained, someone could move it to the side of the building and set it alight (which has happened to other schools in the past), causing the building to catch fire.

It would be good if they didn't ask for a password that you don't need and have never set, then include the entered password in plaintext in the generated email.
StevieM Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Sorry to resurrect a necro-thread but, having been let down by another asset disposal company who ran out of space in the van and left a load of stuff behind, I need to find someone to take the rest - preferably without charging or having minimum requirements. I'm wondering if people's views are still positive about this company. When I contacted them at the end of last year, I got a basic response, but nothing when I asked for more detail. Can any of you help me out? Some of you mentioned that they provide lockable bins/cages, although there is no information on their website other than when booking a collection. What size containers are available and is a deposit required? I'd also like to know if there is a specific procedure that we would need to follow when disposing of equipment other than our own internal procedures, e.g. if they provide labels or if we need to provide them with a full list of items, serial numbers, etc. Also, I've just tried to sign up for an account and when I clicked the link to view the Privacy Policy, it just read - Privacy policy. TIA

No minimum: They provide a bin/bins, or cage/cages free of charge, and you call them to collect when the bin/cage is full. They come on site and swap like for like. When disposal is complete, they report serial numbers were appropriate. You can request supplemental bins if your disposal rate is higher than you initially expect. A new feature that I didn't get to see launched was video recording of your kit being disposed. Perhaps that is in operation now? The guys coming on site were punctual and polite. Overall: 1

Katy Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 We use them, besides the awful phone line they're good - turn up when they say they will, polite and friendly drivers etc. We've got a 1100L bin which we put our own padlock on, we just swap the lock over to the new bin when collected. 1

I made exactly that recommendation to them yesterday. Apparently, they are putting the finishing touches to a new customer portal, which is due to go live next month. After that, the old website will be completely removed. They're delivering a 660 litre bin next Wednesday and will collect however many of our old SMARTboards they can fit in the van while they are at it. Oh, and they take used toner cartridges, too, as long as they're bagged/boxed up. Happy days!!

pete Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 We have a Biffa-sized wheeled skip/bin and just call for another when it's full. Unlike some of the other waste firms we contact with the drivers are thoughtful and go above-and-beyond. I notice "login" still goes back to the old site.
