I'm looking to standardise the version of Office we use across all school in my MAT. Just curious now that 2019 is out are people planning to follow that upgrade path or are you now looking at moving to ProPlus?

Currently our desktop student PCs are win 8.1, office 2013. Staff are win 10 and Office CTR. This will soon (hopefully) be the standard across the site. Windows 10 with Office CTR. Makes more sense imo that it keeps it up to date constantly and doesn't require a new big install every few years.

The thing that concerns me a little bit about going for ProPlus is the propensity for it to change at random without much notification. At least if you stick with the LTSC versions, you know that it isn't going to change massively until you put the next one on. With the O365 version? Who knows?

Been running CTR for over 2 years on our Win 10 Surfaces, not had a single problem, if anything had less problems!

Had problems with 13/16 that required updates being pushed out etc where the CTR had already had them installed.

How do you deal with licencing on CTR, do you have to continuously purchase new licences as you get more pupils/staff?

Staff and Students have the relevant 365 licence attached, first time they load up word etc. they login and it's licenced for them.

We deploy ProPlus as standard now - there are various deployment branches, so you don't have to push the latest and greatest all the time if you don't want.

Licensing - so long as you have Office licensed via volume license somehow, you can get the ProPlus licenses added to Office 365 at no extra cost.

I didn't know that, do I have to go to the OVS-ES reseller or direct to Microsoft to get that done? That's going to be far cheaper to licence by FTE count rather than per O365 user, do they limit how many ProPlus licences you can have?

Probably 2019. Our MAT email accounts don't appear to have the correct licensing assigned for ProPlus, so the only instances of that in use are those linked to our old 365 tenancy.

Next time I do an image refresh will probably go ProPlus C2R. Been pushing it on our Azure AD Joined laptops and deploys fine with MDT.

Just need to remember to enable Shared Computer Activation or each user login counts against their max 5 activations if I remember correctly.

365 Proplus had less issues than with the Old VL version. I had to pull patches before that broke functionality. Like it all not its all leaning to Office 365.
