MovieMaker replacement for Windows10 - any recommendation for a simple free application?

we have started using Shotcut

 

Cant tell you how good it is but our test teachers are finding it easy to use for what they need.

 

Will probably be rolling it out in the near future.

How basic? You can perform some simple tasks in the Photo app.

I've used the Photo app quite a bit in Windows 10 to edit videos before chucking onto youTube.

We still use movie maker on windows 10.

If you can find someone who still has the offline version of Windows Essentials 2012 on their server (PM me if you want a copy...) then the following command line still works beautifully on Windows 10 as does MovieMaker

 

wlsetup-all.exe /silent /AppSelect:MovieMaker /NOToolbarCEIP /NOhomepage /Nolaunch /nosearch

You must remeber to install the correct windows language pack as well or it will give a UXP error on install.

Why not actually use Windows Live Movie Maker? Given that's what you're comparing your features against.

The built in Video Editor app in Windows 10 is not that bad, not sure what Version it came in at 1803? I think previously it was Part of the Photo App so it may well have more features now it is stand alone? Edited November 13, 2018 by rosslaing

Still using Movie Maker here too on Windows 10.

Ditched Movie Maker as kept having problems deploying it with each new version of Windows 10, as @rosslaing said the inbuilt Video Editor App isn't too bad.

What sort of problems did you have with it?

 

Just tried on a Vanilla Windows 10 Pro x64 1803 build and:

1) had to download .net 3.5 framework first

2) it failed to install first time around so disabled internet, installed and tested OK.

Did you have to extract it from Amber?

The Photos / Videos app seems to work. There are a few free apps and Adobe Premiere Rush if your licenced.
