markman Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 We have just bought some HP 530 laptops with SATA drives and Windows Vista. We have issues with running SIMS on Vista (it doesn't work for us) and so we have downloaded the SATA drivers from HP and tried installing XP. The driver HP recommend couldn't find drives so we searched and found another that found the drives but blue screened after formatting the drive. Now on a third driver and using XP with SP2 we have got back to formatting but after that it asks for another driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager but we have downloaded this driver and it is just not recognised!!! Any help would be appreciated.

Any help would be appreciated. I had a similar problem to this with a Lenovo thinkpad. I used some software called nLite, to create a windows installation disk with the drivers intergrated. nLite - Deployment Tool for the bootable Unattended Windows installation Give it a go, its pretty self-explanitory
jmcdermott Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 i have had the same problem with a hp nx7300 laptop, i think i ended up going straight to the intel site and downloading the drivers from there and they worked ok. ?Are we allowed to post zip files here?
PeterW Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 There should be an option in the BIOS to disable AHCI, this is probably your best bet unless you really want to mess about adding the drivers

everton4europe Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Within the bios of HP laptops there is a option to disable SATA support. Once this is disabled it will recognize the hard drive to install xp. I have had this on some nx7300.

Heebeejeebee Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 We have some of the same laptops and had the same SATA issue when taking off Vista and putting on XP. If you download the HP drivers (the ones that install to a floppy) you can get the XP installer to recognise the drive by selecting the 4th from bottom driver (I think) - we did it by trial and error - we just went down the list one by one until one worked. It goes without saying that you need a USB floppy drive to do this. HBJB
