FN-GM Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 The majoruty of the Apple promo images are hiding the notch.
FishCustard Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 So they're doing another 5S/5C type thing. Interesting.
Arthur Posted September 12, 2018 Author Posted September 12, 2018 Is Apple being too avaricious by not including a fast charger or headphone adaptor in the box of the new iPhones? Apple's new iPhones still come with a 5W charger, but without a headphone dongle Two years ago, Apple introduced the iPhone 7, its first smartphone to make the controversial decision to ditch the headphone jack. Today, it has decided that it's time for customers to move on from the old 3.5mm connector altogether. As reported by The Verge, the Lightning dongle that allowed users to connect their wired headphones to the iPhones is no longer included in the box alongside the phones. It is, however, strange that Apple continues to include a mere 5W charger with such expensive devices. Fast charging has grown increasingly common over the past few years, and last year's iPhones already supported it. It seems a little contradictory that the company is only pushing for newer technologies in certain areas while forcing people to spend more money on a feature that's commonplace in just about every other flagship smartphone. The majority of the Apple promo images are hiding the notch. Do people not like notches?
DalekSec Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 As an android user for the last.... 8 years? I've had enough of the complicated-ness and re-skins you get on Samsung phones. And after using iPads in education for last 4 years and seeing how much easier iOS is to use i'm gonna take the plunge and move over to an iPhone when my contract is up, i'm thinking of the X R... the yellow one looks nice Edit: i must be one of the few that doesn't mind the notch.
TechGod Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Apple madness, Maybe the sheep will wake up soon... Apple has not included a headphone dongle this time round, so owners of wired headphones will need to factor in an additional £9 charge to add one.

IOS is supposed to be simple to use. Android is maker/user customisable.

Who had comment number 6 for first to been called a sheep? Edit: I used to be the biggest Anti-Apple person around, then i had to start using one to manage iPads at my old place, then i started to look after them at my new place.... then i brought a MacBook..... now i prefer MacOS to Windows. Yes you pay the apple tax but imo it's worth it. Edited September 13, 2018 by DalekSec 3

At least for me I never buy the 'recent' iPhone. They give extra functions that are not needed but nice to have and to make matters worse the cost seems to be going higher...... those prices are beyond a joke. But hey... people will still buy them.. while claiming money is tight and can't afford things.. Other half will get one while complaining about the monthly cost of her contract while she uses it for the same thing... facebook and texting.
Sonic007 Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 I think I'l skip this one thankyou. Its just not worth the upgrade.
DJ-1701 Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 DING DING DING!!!! Who had comment number 6 for first to been called a sheep? Unfortunately I had Post 2... which ironically was posted by a sheep. 3
DJ-1701 Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Already have the X, so not bothering to upgrade when I can. If I did though, it would be for the iPhone X R... 1) It's got the coloured backs... 2) It makes one feel like a Pirate! Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. 1
synaesthesia Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Groan. Another load of underengineered crap for overengineered pricing.
Arthur Posted September 13, 2018 Author Posted September 13, 2018 I must be one of the few that doesn't mind the notch. Me too! I would much rather have a notch than the absolutely ginormous bezels of the iPhone 8 Plus.
mavhc Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 It's not the iPhone XS, it's the iPhone Xs, so the plural is iPhone Xss? However it is the iPhone XR I'll stick to my £200 phone with an sd card slot and headphone jack, and standard usb socket
sparkeh Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 At least for me I never buy the 'recent' iPhone. Me too, I just picked up an SE for a decent price and its a cracking phone. Its replacing my 5s that I bought cheap as well. After years of being an Android advocate I switched to Apple and I love iOS. I'd never pay full whack for a new iPhone but getting an older model is a pretty good strategy I think.
DJ-1701 Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 So why isn't it extra small? Love it! Can't believe I didn't think about saying that! If anyone was actually thinking that, the iPhone X is pronounced iPhone Ten as in the roman numeral.
FishCustard Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 If anyone was actually thinking that, the iPhone X is pronounced iPhone Ten as in the roman numeral. I sometimes make a point of not doing that just to annoy Apple obsessives (and I say this as someone who uses an iPhone - albeit a slightly-out-of-date 6S). 1
Arthur Posted September 13, 2018 Author Posted September 13, 2018 it's a cracking phone. Literally! 1
Jawloms Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 DING DING DING!!!! Who had comment number 6 for first to been called a sheep? It seems Apple even have their own version of Godwin's law.... 1
DJ-1701 Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 :nerd:Clearly not an SE Which has been removed of Apple's website I notice.
sparkeh Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Which has been removed of Apple's website I notice. Yeah bit unexpected that, there were rumours that an SE2 would be announced as the SE was popular.
matt40k Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 so owners of wired headphones will need to factor in an additional £9 charge to add one. If you're spending over £1k on something I don't think you'll moan about an extra £9... and lets face it, folks will prob use it as an excuse to buy new headphones.
