Just thought I would get in early and remind MIS suppliers that, unless you are a sponsor, you may not advertise your system on EduGeek or ask others to recommend you. You know the rules.

Sorry CloudGeek, I am sure you will get the answers you want; please do try searching this forum too as this question has been asked before.

The majority of schools in our group use Engage. Mostly all hosted, but they all started at different times, and so bringing the config into line to allow consistent reporting is quite a challenge.

We use SIMS, which can look like it was designed by committee but is functionally rich and very stable. Next year, SIMS new generation will be completely hosted and browser-based, so you need to look at what is coming rather than how it looks now.

We use hosted SIMS

Despite the horror stories, it has been pretty good for us

MATs need a cloud based solution for their MAT-wide analytics, reporting and overall control. And this is not because I am a CloudGeek! Any MAT can tell you and more and more MATs are switchingmto cloud for this reason.

@witch, with all due respect, “hosted” does not mean cloud! This is why there are tons of horror stories around “hosted SIMS” almost all switching back to on premis SIMS after a short while. It is evident in the fact that if “hosted SIMS” was good enough then why would Capita spend £millions to develop SIMS8.

With all due respect, @CloudGeek, I was answering the OP - you - who asked for recommendations for MIS, and no specific mention of Cloud was made. If you wanted a cloud solution you should have said!

(we've been with hosted SIMS for quite a while now and are happy, thanks very much)

To make the power of the system much more accessible

@PhilNeal of course cloud’s one of the greatest virtues is accessibility from anywhere as well as lower cost by sharing central resources efficiently and many other benefits.

So the “main purpose” and means of achieving it, is not separatable - and it is cloud!

And this diversion from topic stops here please... now.

If you wish to discuss the purpose or anything else to do with SIMS8 functionality then please take it to another thread.
