Hello

We have come across a student using the for a BTEC exam and they don't have a candidate number but a Learner number which is something like 7 characters long. The latest version limits this to 4 characters. Is there any way to be able to change this at all?

Thank you

Ian

I've been watching EWP since you launched it, and Exams officer now happy to try it.

Of course, she couldn't possibly agree without asking "something"...!

"Where is the box (on cover sheet) for invigilator or student to sign?"

(It's my tech showed her, I've not seen it - but presumably one or the other isn't there?)

Can there be an option for both?

Hi,

The cover sheets for both JCQ or CIE both are exactly as given from their respective websites.

The JCQ form 4 Word Processor coversheet does not require a signature for either, please see the downloadable file below from JCQ.

I can set a config option to override for candidate numbers max length of 4, will add in next version.

Hi, is anyone running the latest version on Windows 10 1804? I can't get it to launch, works fine in 1709. Is there anyway to debug to see whats going on? thanks

Have you tried resetting the config file to default?

I currently write and build it on win 10 1803 education, no issues

I've deleted the file and tried but still the same. When run the cursor just whirrs a few seconds and nothing happens.

What happens with the default settings config in place? Don’t have no config, or else it will use debug settings I use when testing.

Same. However I've just discovered if I run the executable from a folder on my C: drive it works fine but if I run the executable from a folder on my desktop it doesn't launch. I do have a redirected desktop so it could be a permission issue maybe. I've just moved the exam write folder into my Program Files and put a shortcut on my desktop and it's working ok now.

Ok, thanks for the info, I will try to track where permissions maybe required on startup and put in a message box to be more helpful.

As soon as I’m back off holiday though [emoji1303][emoji1]

Many thanks. Just one other thing, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before or perhaps it's a feature but the tab key doesn't work. I've figured that ctrl+tab works does the job though..

As far as I’m aware the tab key should only work when tanning through the menu items or candidate info screen or other screens.

It shouldn’t tab in the writing window.

Can you be more specific with what you were trying to do to get the tab key working for what task?

Thanks

we had a computer science exam and students were struggling to write pseudo code being used to using tabs. I'll just have to remember to inform them to use ctrl+tab instead next time.

Oh yes I see, Ctrl+tab is a default for the rtf control is use for the writing window. I will add the note to the help section for future reference.

Just been to collect the exam scripts and one of our machines has the big red X thing again.

We're not on the absolute latest version (some of our kids using it are very highly SEN and any noticeable change will negatively impact them, so don't want to risk updating until after the exam season) but we're on one of the more recent builds. .exe says it's 2.1.3.0

The crash sometimes happens in older builds when the timer clock tries to return the correct date time.

This was changed in later builds by using infinite looping and stop starts correctly for the date/time in the status bar.

Please try v2.1.4.5 latest and the problem should disappear.

Yesterday I was called at home after hours when a student who had completed a two-hour exam went to submit her exam (as she normally would) and found that the file was completely blank.

I linked in from home and found the most recent saved version in Exam WritePad and restored it.

Thinking about it some more I believe that she saved a notepad file over the top of her finished exam work (why? Who knows!)

Three cheers for Exam WritePad!

Yea, got the same issue the other day in an exam. Wanted to use a version I know has been working really well so haven't updated in a while. I'll update ExamWritePad for mocks next year. Just want to get the main exams out of the way.

It's been working really well. We have a lot of Word Processing students.

Yeah three cheers to Exam WritePad from me too. Its been great, I've had to use it to restore once so far and the autosave is a godsend. Also have used it to catch students messing about in mocks, one student handed in a blank page once and I looked through the autosaves and he'd basically written loads of harsh stuff about the invigilator and his teachers. Slap!
