Please can you share what signing in/out systems you use for fire safety for Sixth Form. We had Inventry which was very expensive for what it is and 2/3 years ago moved to Sign In App. Now despite the students having access to an app on their phone and an iPad with the TAP (Mifare) attachment, we regularly have 60 or so students not signing in. Our head of Sixth form blames the software, it's very poor he says and too slow and that other sixth forms have better. hmmm

Is anyone else frustrated with the new tables in Arbor or is it just me? Ok they might offer more functionality. but they look rubbish and are too big even with the table spacing reduced to XS.

My school is in the process of moving to Arbor and we haven't completed a DPIA either. Since we are doing nothing new with processing the personal data we have, and solely moving what we have from one system to another, would it require one? I'd just assumed we'd update our privacy statement.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but anyways... So we never had any of our teachers/slt remote into school, no real need since they accessed SIMS via PARS (web based) and we store files in O365 sharepoint. But since lockdown all of a sudden they want remote access. So without the right tools or budget I quickly implemented a solution where using our Sophos XG they VPN in and locked down to a specific VLAN for security and once authenticated and connected I had them remote desktop to their physical workstations. This worked well, but the machines had to be powered on during the day, no real concerns there. Since though we've fired up an old server and added an SSD and some more RAM and created some Win 10 VMs to HYper V. But I'm not sure where I stand on this with regards to RDS Cals, do we need them ? We just have a standard OVM and hyper V is licenced based on the number of CPU cores and not the number of VMs..

We're heavily invested in MS & O365, it's not gonna happen, plus we'd still need the desktop licences which is the biggest cost.

We have room booking system up and running on 10.6 and it all works fine except that we cannot book a room on the day. No error message appears but in the HTML we see "static admin booked" and "static admin expired". Does anyone else have this problem or any way to fix?

thanks for the tips, I already have mail tips enabled and have added a delay rule too but our head wants something to pop up on clicking send. If there's nothing else I can do some of it with a bit of VB code..

We've had some breaches in our school lately with staff sending emails using CC instead of BCC and also disclosing personal data unauthorised in attachments. Doh! I found this great bit of software that pop ups when sending external emails and prompts staff if they are sure they want to send the email, double checks if they want to use CC instead of BCC, prompts if the email needs to be encrypted and performs DLP too. Does anyone know of any other software that does something similar?

The DPA 2018 Schedule 1 part 4 requires an appropriate document in place if you are using one of the exclusions for processing special category data in Schedule 1 part 2. Since all schools process ethnicity as required by the DfE and also provide counselling services, these aren't covered under GDPR article 9 but you can use Schedule 1 part 2 as a legal basis. The ICO can ask for this document. Happy to share my one in a PM if interested..

Hi, not sure if this is the right forum, we're currently using HAP+ for staff and students to access files from home. I need to implement something more secure and thinking about remote access via VPN to desktops for staff. If you have this facility, what do you use and what would you recommend. I'm looking for something with 2FA and ideally access through a browser. thanks!
