Driftingashore Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 Anyone know where I can obtain the most recent free version prior to the buyout? We purchased this year, but if the shakedown will continue next year I’d like something to fail back to..

bigstan48 Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 I think this is the last free version. Hope it helps someone 🙂 https://examwritepad.com/EWPBuilds/ExamWritePad_FREE_v2302042338.zip
TechMonkey Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 Has anyone tried exam.net as an alternative? 1
kennysarmy Posted November 4, 2025 Posted November 4, 2025 Just a heads up that we were not sent a reminder to renew our ExamWrite Pad site licence and of course it expired just before an exam!! People who are on the paid for version may like to check their expiry date and ensure they make contact with the team : [email protected] 1

msi_school Posted November 4, 2025 Posted November 4, 2025 Does anyone have a reliable contact number for text help, we purchased this a month ago and have not received a license file. I have emailed, Finance, tech support and the general info with no response and they don't seem to answer their phones or respond to a answer phone message.
kennysarmy Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 We've installed their latest version v25 and are finding it takes up to 25 seconds to get to the start-screen, our previous version was only taking 3-4 seconds, anyone seeing the same behaviour? This is only for our locked down exam accounts, seems fine in general
Space_Munkey Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 Might just go back to the old free version at this rate 😂 1
garethEds Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Just had to pay £499 for our renewal. Won't be doing that again next year. No reminder either - just a big window telling me the licence had run out. What we need is someone to write a new version - copy the software and open source it. 2
Mr.Ben Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Can anyone who is using Exam.net contact me to talk through their experience?

I have downloaded and installed it on my machine. Still no luck. If I remember correctly, there is an installation file, but there is no installation file in the free ExamWrite folder.
thimon Posted February 11 Posted February 11 What was the last free version number? I’ll see what old installers I have, as I usually keep all the different version installers.

Our last correspondence with them was: Hi Jeff, I understand, thank you for letting me know. My apologies that we weren't able to find the cause quicker for you. I will close your case. I will ask Matt to take a note of this and continue exploring independently on his end to see if any replication can be made that leads to future improvements for this issue. If anything more comes from this I will give you a courtesy email to let you know. To add to this, I spoke with support also and they advised that it could be due to Printers not being able to be contacted properly OR the networked permissions may be applying differently now because of Windows 11. Which is frustrating to hear because we are having issues with printers not being found (been an on going problem ever since the drivers install cve years ago) and I have seen some funny network drive problems that only occur now due to the upgrade to W11... I assume you guys have confirmed all of these things for your environments however and the issue perists?
thimon Posted February 19 Posted February 19 What version of EWP are you running? I think we’re a little behind, however don’t want to update now! 😂

I think we’re a little behind, however don’t want to update now! 😂 We're running one of the latest builds 25.4.2? We had an exam this morning, frustratingly we don't look after the exams laptops and they're kept locked away in the exams office and the officer was off over the holidays... meaning they hadn't been turned on since the update was deployed out or in the lead up to the exams.. Queue all the devices (thankfully only 6), suddenly pulling down the update mid-exam, breaking saving, PDFs and printing 😂. Some chaos ensued, but we got it sorted... the REALLY interesting this was that prior to the upgrade, the version 24.xxx still froze for a minute or two inititally, but soon loaded. 25.4.2 however literally took about 10 minutes of the exam to sort itself out... Very very interestingly, if you open a saved EWP file, it will load INSTANTLY. I'm now wondering whether I might just create a template save file and save this to all exam folder areas so that the invigilators can load these and leave it on the candidate details page... I'm going to report it over to texthelp-everway-whoever-owns-it-now anyway. 1
