Unfortunately that doesnt seem to be the case for us - I have reinstalled windows on a few effected devices as well as reinstalling exam writepad and it hasnt made any difference.

 

Turn on DebugApplication in the config and try running ExamWritePad for a few minutes. Then close the program and send me the log file.

Also just out of interest how much testing was done on the current version you have at your end? I always advise making sure it runs perfect weeks before it needs to be used so that if an issue is apparent, I have time to investigate.

Great Piece of software! Have just introduced this in a secondary school for this exam season. A lot more suited for Exams and saves a lot of messing about in Word trying to disable spell check etc. Thanks!

We are getting the delay when typing issue as well at our school - has the issue with auto save to network locations been addressed? We are on the latest paid version.

 

You could take an approach which I use, which I would imagine will negate this issue

 

I have EWP config setup to save locally first to C:\exam

 

Then, every 5 minutes, a scheduled task is run which runs a .bat file " robocopy C:\Exam \\Fileserver\students$\%username% /e >nul ". This is applied via GPO

 

No lag when saving, plus you have two copies of the exam in separate locations.

 

Once exams period is over & we have all copies required on the network, i have a script which I run on Senso to clear the C:\exam folder on each exam machine.

Yeah its something to look at - nerver had this issue before with EWP so its odd that its only started happening.

That’s strange because startup Fullscreen option keeps ExamWritePad top above all other windows, including the start menu, taskbar, task switching, notification etc…

Also there is a GPO to disable the network UI on the taskbar, this should help.

Yes, very easy to do, just rename the .docx file extension to .ExamText and each file will open up in ExamWritePad.

For a future release could we have an option to preload more than 2 pdf files, some exams have 2 question papers each with a supplementary paper.

They surely wouldn’t sit the exam back to back, there must be a break in between like most exams where prep is done ready for the next exam.

@ass17 First time using EWP in anger this morning, the PDF papers loaded fine but when trying to read aloud we just got a load of random numbers spoken instead of the paper text. Any ideas please?

Without having access to the paper to debug the text I can’t say 100%, I would need to see the makeup of the PDF. Also which version of ExamWritePad are you using?

You would think!?! It was a shock to us this morning when we saw they were allowed to complete both papers simultaneously and we had no way of dealing with that as our config is very restrictive... They ended up writing it all in 1 document and we went back to split it into 2 documents to print afterwards.

It's usually the same subject but 2 different topics/sections for example history may have "History of medicine" and "American civil war" as two separate question papers with a source text for each.

Eg, todays RE was Paper 1 Islam and Paper 2 Christianity - we told them to start a new page when they start paper 2 and printed 2 copies of the document
