DalekSec Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 A school has banned a series of "extreme hairstyles", including one known as "Meet me at McDonald's". Well... it can't be 'Meet me at KFC' can it! Great Yarmouth Charter Academy bans 'McDonald's' hairstyle - BBC News 1
Ksavage413 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Not sure why it's called that, unless it has the golden arches cut and dyed into the front and we just can't see it in the photo?
Garacesh Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) Pretty stupid. I think pupils (and staff! to quote our staff handbook, 'Hairstyles and colours should not be extreme') should be afforded some reasonable degree of self-expression. If someone styles their hair into a big middle-finger, or gets a short back-and-sides but then has gang-related/nazi/etc markings shaved into it, then you have grounds to reject the style of offence reasons. But generally speaking, why shouldn't we give people the right to do whatever the hell they feel like with their own bodies? I've long resigned myself to the fact that that's not a battle I'm ever going to win, though. Edited February 22, 2018 by Garacesh out > our 1
crc-ict Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 There have been a few stories about rather extreme rules at that particular school over the time. As a parent, it sounds to me like they are rather too big for their boots and if I had kids there, I'd be looking to get them moved elsewhere ASAP!
spacebar Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) What is wrong with this hairstyle? they could be skinheads! As long as it does not interfere with learning, it should be allowed, excluding artificial colours. Maybe the rule was created by a bald guy with a grudge? http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02701/kim_2701423k.jpg Edited February 22, 2018 by spacebar
synaesthesia Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 That school again, feels like they want to conscript students rather than teach them.
mikeprice Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Maybe the rule was created by a bald guy with a grudge? No I didn't
john Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 I better watch out asking my mate to meet me at McDonalds he may bring his scissors!
jthompson Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Not sure why it's called that, unless it has the golden arches cut and dyed into the front and we just can't see it in the photo? Perhaps it's because it doesn't look anything like it does in the photo. And/or it only costs 99p?
LeMarchand Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 After some extensive research* I was unable to find why it's called "Meet me at McDonald's". But I did find someone on MumsNet who pointed out that It looks like this but with a boy face. * At LEAST 4 minutes Googling. 3
