Working in schools there is always something going on, you have a massive (most secondary schools) site to look after, whoever you are tech or manager. People are very nice to you (most of the time) because they just want you to fix things. People are much more easier going about getting things fixed, as long as you are doing a decent enough job. As a tech starting out you have much more opportunity to get involved in systems and see how things work. At many large corporations this isn't the case. Most teachers and school staff in any school, normally fall into certain types of people, most of them are nice. I have encountered some real nasty people, but these people never seem to last long, a school is a community, it doesn't matter what level you are at, if you are nasty to people, in the end it will lead to your own downfall. One guy I knew thought he was important, he wasn't, but treated everyone like trash, nobody wanted to deal with him, teachers were afraid of him, everything seized up, it begun to effect the school teaching, suddenly he was gone....... I am sure in some schools these types of people manage to stay put, but in the end, it will come back to bite them. In a business, I am sure these people would have no problem staying put! Having worked in the private sector, in an office, I would never go back, I hated it, even though the pay was much higher. Unfortunately I need more cash, so may well have to find a compromise, universities seem the best bet......

The arcades will keep the coins just for this purpose. Alternately create tokens that the existing machines will accept. Surely cheaper to use collect a load of old coins. I think it is a good idea. The coins are so old also.

Sky seem to think they are pretty much bust. "on the brink". I'm a PC world reject. They want salesman, not technical people. There is a store 15 minutes from me, I have never been there, because the Tesco is closer. I try to avoid these sort of stores, because you have staff trying to annoy you and offer "advice" which most of the time is wrong or trying to get you to burn more money. Toys R Us is also in the same position, and if both go bust, it will result in 6000 job losses according to Sky.

I'm not sure if this is the sort of things you meant, but not using social media, trying to keep life simple, not being guided by money or material wealth, not caring about what people think (partly related to social media). Taking your time and doing things properly. And not comparing yourself to others. (again partly related to social media). In regards to people moving out of the way, I once witnessed (outside a hospital A&E) a responding ambulance on blue lights, being blocked at a traffic light by another ambulance not on blue lights. Apparently it's illegal even for other ambulances to go through a red light when its not on a call. Common sense it seems was missing in the mind of the driver. As for actual things, the birds singing in the mornings, swans on the lake.

We tried to upgrade to Mac OX High Sierra on our server, it was so buggy (the server app) that we abandoned it and went to Sierra. I would advise you do the same. Sorry I know that isn't much help, but High Sierra is more hassle than its worth.

As most schools will have a naming format for staff emails, ie [email protected], it seems a bit pointless if true as students will just work it out. (Edit: already beaten to that point above!) Sounds like someone is trying to be busy and sound important.

I think another "small" thing that would help would be a OTP app we could download for mobile devices instead of buying tags, they are pretty expensive! (I know LGFL offer them free for first time schools but IT staff tend to change a lot these days) In addition it would surely be better if you were to ever force all admins to use two factor. Users might be more willing to use it if they don't have to carry around a tag.

I find the remote RAV3 system pretty poor, does anyone know if there are any plans to replace/upgrade it? Half of the time it doesn't work properly. The browser crashes, its slow, JAVA! I know the LGFL don't like us using remote tools, but it would help if the remote access system they recommend you use was decent.

I have not enjoyed the show at all since Russell T Davies left, I did like the ending of this new episode so hopefully a sign of things to come!

Last series was a bit rocky, this one looks better, and not long to go!
