DalekSec Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) After buying various stupid things i don't need over the years, e.g. i bought Star Wars on laser disc last month, for no reason other than i wanted it! Made me wonder what stupid things you've guys have bought over the years, having no use for it or whatever the reason maybe! Edited February 13, 2018 by DalekSec
Disaster Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Surely you mean bought? It's bought isn't it? Bought. Bought.
DalekSec Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) Surely you mean bought? It's bought isn't it? Bought. Bought. Dysleixic.... dyslesic?...........Dyslecsic!....no..... Disaster Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Whatever, you wrote buying, that bit you got right.
Disaster Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) I bought some radiator covers for my narrow hallways. That in itself isn't that stupid. It's when I tried to cut them down and cut off the wrong sides that was stupid. Had to glue them all back together and start again. that was 3 years ago and I've just not bothered. Edit: Don't buy fancy radiator covers for narrow hallways. It's pointless! Edited February 13, 2018 by Disaster
DJ-1701 Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Made me wonder what stupid things you've guys have bought over the years... Well there was [PoliticalPartyNameHere]'s Manifesto...
Vaardu Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) Stupid stuff I bought? Well I suppose I bought what was once pointless was the Fizzbook Spin NL1. But it's not pointless anymore after I restored it. Does that count? EDIT: I suppose the VTech kids toys I bought from eBay over the years count. I have an I.T Unlimited, the I.T Laptop, a kid's laptop called "Slimline MPE-342", a kid's computer called the Impact, a kid's laptop from 2002 called the Researcher Notebook. These were impulse buys. I just had to have them. Not only I wanted them just for giggles, I wanted them because history. It's history to me. I'm still confident of finding alternative ways of using them. Edited February 13, 2018 by Vaardu Suppose VTech would count
Grey-gear Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 I think for me was a fidget cube, used it once now it's sitting in a draw some where in my house.
DalekSec Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 Brought an iMac G4 couple years ago from the pricey sum of £25, the seller didn't put any info on the eBay listing so i winged it! Tried to upgrade the HDD, managed to damage a the ribbon cable to the CD drive. Ended up being at the bottom of my stairs for a year or so till i gave it to a friend (Who've I've now fallen out with.... which is annoying as i want it back). Should of turned it into a light.... 1
IrritableTech Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Last year I did buy some USB heated insoles.
DJ-1701 Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Vista. Strange, your 'location' would have suggested you didn't 'buy' it... arrrrrrrr.
Popular Post jbunoomally Posted February 13, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 13, 2018 Strange, your 'location' would have suggested you didn't 'buy' it... arrrrrrrr. That's the thing. The Pirated version was Windows Vistarrrrrrr. JB. 8
bald_pig Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Inflatable banana, my onesies, the soundbar I've used twice... that's all I can think of right now!
korifugi Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 That's the thing. The Pirated version was Windows Vistarrrrrrr. JB. Complete with the Arrrrr-o interface. 1
fiza Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 I bought Palm pilot years ago which I never used. Still sat in the drawer at home.
Dos_Box Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Picked up one of these for £40 just after launch - Elonex ONEt review | TechRadar It was truly, truly dire and I really can't remember what happened to it. I think I left it in a former place of work when I moved on.
sparkeh Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Had Link on the Gameboy and went and bought Link DX. Same game but in (kinda) colour. Pointless. Had Street Fighter II Turbo on SNES but for some reason I can’t recall I went and bought it for Megadrive too. SNES version was far superior. Pointless.
Jamman960 Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 I once brought a windows phone... having already had one before! I thought it had to have improved but I was sooo wrong
Popular Post korifugi Posted February 14, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 14, 2018 I once bought a pencil, that no matter how hard I tried - wouldn't sharpen. Pointless. 9
elsiegee40 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I once bought a pencil, that no matter how hard I tried - wouldn't sharpen. Pointless. Oy! Over to the punny thread
AMLinington Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I think for me was a fidget cube, used it once now it's sitting in a draw some where in my house. On that subject, as someone who struggles with Depression and Anxiety, I'm always looking for things to occupy my nervous fingers. So when 'Fidget Spinners' were a thing, I bought some on Ebay - I think they came in sets of 2 and I bought 2 sets. They weren't very expensive, but when they arrived I discovered that the bearings spat out a load of grease when 'spun' and really they didn't do much for my anxiety - they are too bulky. Like your 'Fidget Cube', they have been consigned to a drawer and rarely see the light of day. I was thinking of getting a cube because I am still struggling to find something that just 'clicks' with my anxious fiddling. I'm terribly destructive - pen lid clips get broken, pencils get chewed, anything made of brittle plastic ends up shattered. I tend to bend or break things. I chew my pen lids until they crack. I've tried buying 'bendy people' and stretchy gel squeezers but they end up broken. I like the idea of those 'Bucky balls' but the smell of metal on my fingers would bother me. I have a couple of 'Tangle's but, like Fidget spinners, they aren't really 'working for me'. I'm currently resorting to hoarding those wooden coffee stirrers from Costa and chew the out of them instead of pencils. Can anyone recommend something I haven't tried? Although I think I'm always going to default back to 'chewing stuff' - I used to do it as a child and it's a habit I've never been able to break. I used to use Gum, but I'd go through SO MUCH gum it was ridiculous. I once bought a pencil, that no matter how hard I tried - wouldn't sharpen. Pointless. Waaq waaahhhhhh... 2
LincolnE Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I was tempted to get one of the fidget cubes for my workplace, for the same reasons as above. Alas, they were banned 100% here, so I'm subconsciously clicking a pen all day instead.

No idea whether that would fulfill your need to chew, or be suitable, but I thought it was an interesting portmanteau! 3
