ITWombat Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 If you watch late night TV on the commercial channels you might see adverts trying to get men to call premium rate numbers with the promise of speaking to hot women. This begs the question: where are the corresponding adverts which say "Girls! Speak to drooling loosers in your area" 2
kmount Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I think its part of the "Womens Handbook" which stipulates that should you wish to speak to drooling losers, nip to the pub and take your pick.
john Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Where are the ones for people to call men waiting in your area in all this equalitys and stuff
Edu-IT Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Where are the ones for people to call men waiting in your area in all this equalitys and stuff I'm sure they exist. I think I've seen them on Sky. Every other advert on Sky after midnight seems to be a dating advert.
localzuk Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I think the worst one of those ad's i've seen has to be the one where the women are bouncing on those kid's bouncy ball toy things. :S Is anyone really stupid enough to phone those lines, or sign up for texts with them?
russdev Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 This thread reminds me of 634 5789 from Blues Brothers 2K film (for those not enlightened in the film 634 5789 is the tel number of one of these lines manned by women in their later years). Not got video of that on youtube so will have to do with tv appearance on late show instead, YouTube - Blues Brothers - 6345789
Michael Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Clearly though, the reason we see more and more of these adverts is because there's a big market of men/women who call these numbers. The ads must cost thousands to broadcast on television, so god knows how much money they must make a night.
Joedetic Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I've got a couple of mates who are beta testers for Skype and got the new 3 Skype phone and get credit and stuff to test them out etc. They text one of the lines for a laugh so I'm told.
Sylv3r Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I just wonder if people think the women on the end of the telephone look like the girls on the adverts!
torledo Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I've got a couple of mates who are beta testers for Skype and got the new 3 Skype phone and get credit and stuff to test them out etc. They text one of the lines for a laugh so I'm told. I would aswell if it didn't appear on a bill and didnt cost me anything albeit just for a laugh ofcourse But tbh the thought of a sixty something clipping her toenails on the other would be a bit offputting...
Michael Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 But tbh the thought of a sixty something clipping her toenails on the other would be a bit offputting... Yuk
dhicks Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 for those not enlightened in the film 634 5789 is the tel number of one of these lines manned by women in their later years Indeed - and it seemed like a really good idea at the time to set my eBay and Skype id to dhicks6345789 (nice and memorable, you know?), but I have recently found that I get a remarkable number of Skype chat messages from China/Poland/Russia of the more questionable sort... -- David Hicks
Michael Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 ...I get a remarkable number of Skype chat messages from China/Poland/Russia of the more questionable sort... Well there you go, there's some of the market! You must have regrets now
strawberry Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 if i was going to pay to talk to a girl i'd at least expect a sexy non local accent!.
Edu-IT Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Is costs a silly amount of money to text these lines and they automatically sign you up to this and that. It's not worth it in my opinion.
Sirbendy Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Makes me laugh...we had a housewarming (of sorts) last night, and all took a walk (or in my case a limp) into town to the chinese...on the way back there were 2 young..well, for want of a better term, ladies lurking about together on the pavement wearing altogether too little.. As jem said, "tarts and tossers night, obviously".. TV and text? Nah..just go for a walk by some pubs..you'd be amazed..
