Xbox One S or Xbox One X

If you have a 4K TV, or plan to, get the One X. If not, save a few hundred quid and get the One S. Black Friday tomorrow too, so maybe hold off and see if any deals pop up.

LG TV's have been discussed at length on an Xbox Facebook group I'm a member of and the picture on LG apparently isn't as bright as TV's from their competitors but you cant argue about the price.

I think thats an 8 bit panel apparently you want 10 bit or 8 bit + FRC minimum for an HDR picture see https://hdguru.com/whats-a-10-bit-tv-and-is-it-better/

 

its not listed on Display Specifications but here is the closest one to it https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/075fee2

 

The MU7000 series is the one that is being recommended on my Facebook group https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/c82db05 (49" model) - also notice the brightness measurement on this one compared to the earlier mentioned LG

I recently got a 43" LG TV from Argos along with the XBox One X and OMG wow! In HDR games, when it fades to black the TV appears to be off as it's so black!

 

Yes there are higher spec TVs out there than the £369 I paid for my LG TV but then the price is higher too! On one forum I asked for a recommended TV for the XBox One X and it was over £1,600!! For the price of around £369 you can get a great LG TV that works amazingly with the XBox One X.

there is no point upgrading a one to a one s the difference is minor at best(diddnt at 1st see yours was going funny). the x is a better console and im running it on a 1080p tv happily. if you can afford it id recommend the x they are £20 off at game atm if that makes much difference just be aware (and this applies to the s too you cant directly plug in a kinect you need to buy adapters if you want to use it (mines basically now an amiibo stand lol)

4K(3840x2160) tends to demand a larger screen size than 40 inches. I did use the search on display specifications to try and narrow it down but with the slider set for 40" it still gave me larger TV's

There is another term you need to be aware of for gaming input-lag. The 49" Samsungs is 15ms there is no input lag figure listed for the two 40" sets I found, so personally I would get the larger set.

I suspect that there will be some better bundles if not a bigger price drop in the January sales. That is what I'm waiting for as I'm happy enough with my day one Xbox.

The XBox One X hasn't even been out for 1 month yet so you wont see Microsoft suddenly drop their prices for quite some time! Game have been offering game packs recently but as I didnt like any of the games they were offering so I just got the XBox One X on it's own.
