Not that I ever go into fixing hardware now but as a bit of an internal challenge and a bit of fun from my tech that I can't fix it! One of our 8th gen nucs has just stopped working and won't power on, the power button does nothing. When plugged in I can see the NUC has lights on the motherboard so is getting power but it will not turn on. Have removed the RAM sticks and get the same and held down power button whilst no power and RAM in but still will not power back on. Anyone seen similar? TIA

Be interested to see what the cost of remote help will be on intune as looks expensive just browsing but well worth an investigation. Is quick assist still free alternative to this then?

So brekdown of devices at the moment is: Windows is split so have around 70% managed via SCCM and then then another 30% managed by intune but this number is growing on intune so for windows side whatever options available must work on both. How are people who are using this finding supporting machines like this compared to using Senso, impero etc? Chromebooks is very interesting will take that away and look

Just going through jobs we are looking at next year and one of the jobs we need to do is pick a solution for the trust for the IT team to do remote support. We have seen/have most like senso, impero, AB tutor etc but wondering if there is anything baked into Windows or chromebooks which we could utilise under our current agreements. Not researched much so looking for any pointers what might be available within subscriptions already.

Brain kicked in and now sorted!

Brain has truned to mush on this. I have a spreadhseet based on form answers. I need a simple formula to say if cell = yes then "(get data from this cell to add to this cell)" but if it is not yes then put another value instead.

I did the work, swapping out 6 AP's for brand new ones didn't seem like ws going to be the hardest job in the world.

Is there a way of disabling the 5ghz band completely?

Thursday and Friday last week we have recently just installed some new IAP 515 to replace the ageing Ruckus system we had. Very small school with 6 classrooms and then 3 offices. Each classroom had a Ruckus AP in and then the offices are just next to 3 of the classrooms. We took out the Ruckus system and replaced with the IAP and now all of a sudden in some of the offices where we had 3 bars of signal I only get 1 or no wifi at all, I walk into the classroom and i get full bars. As a test I plugged the Ruckus AP in with a new SSID and the signal worked straight away whereas the Aruba was 1 bar again. I am no wifi expert but how is my 12 year old Ruckus system out performing my new Aruba's? The Head and Business manager are already questioning the decision for replacing as it has got worse. Hoping I have missed something but any solutions?

Bit of a head scratcher and not getting anywhere on the Aruba forums. Yesterday morning we were doing some maintenance work in a cabinet and we had to unplug the Aruba 515 from the PoE switch. After plugging the AP back in I just get a solid red light. I have tried resetting the AP still get the same, I have this morning plugged it in using a POE injector (genuine one) and still get the red light, used brand new patch cables as well and still cannot get the red light to shift. Anyone seen this before?

Evening everybody. Right not sure how to explain what I am trying to do so will have a go. As our MAT has expanded I need to start to generate more reports based on switches, services, filtering etc and these are presented to trust boards (don't know why they need them so regularly) I have stock answers as such stored in a google doc and also a google sheet I put into my template and images on basic topology however it is getting tedious copying them across everytime. I am looking for a way to basically answer pre loaded questions like what switches school A has (Aruba or Cisco) and then my answers auto generate the document with pictures of the AP's etc fill the template from the stock answers Is this even possible or where do I start. We are a gsuite MAT as well. TIA

So some family have been prepared this year and have bought some laptops already for Christmas however one bought it without office. Where is best place to buy office suite now as out the loop.

Very interesting point with the KCSIE guidelines, so anything with lets say extension based filtering would fall foul of this, is there any links to this. ISP is my preferred route with this more think about it.

Got a very exciting opportunity, our trust is going to be taking on 3 brand new schools, 1 secondary, 2 primaries. There is a lot of moving parts at the moment but the main scope of the project which we want to try and go down a serverless route due to rising energy costs, general direction of travel in IT etc. Now intune is going to be the main driver here as we will be wanting to use AAD. My main questions which are coming out is regarding firewall and filter. All sites will have minimum 1gb/1gb leased line with secondary school maybe having 10gb bearer. We want something which will really be offsite so either thinking speaking with ISPs to get this bundled in or looking at something like securely and then firewall! So just want any idea that people would do in this situation or anything I might have missed TIA

Right looking to take the plunge, our intune rollout with staff laptops has gone well and the staff computer rooms have now got intune devices working. However we have some money to spend on some new desktops this month and with that thinking of making the 4 it suites we have full intune managed devices. My only scepticism I keep having which is niggling at me with intune is on the odd occasion policies have not been bought down in time when staff member has logged in. That worries me slightly with students more than staff and just wondered if I am missing a trick with the setup with user an computer policies.

At a loose end with my new Aruba system. Over the summer we took delivery of 15 access points to replace the 15 Ruckus ones that had been in the primary for over 8 years. All setup ok all talking back to the virtual controller and all seem to be working. Over the past week the amount of dead spots I have now found or places where I used to get full signal barley get 2 bars on an iphone is really worrying. I have power cycled all the AP's but now the school and SLT are getting irritated. The school is an old building with solid brick walls but I am talking signal is non existent in the next room with a wall in between them and access point less than 4-5 metres away. How can this be possible when the old system worked so well! Have i missed something on the config?

With Winter coming up and us already getting rain looking at options for drying clothes over the winter. The tumble dryer packed up last month and won't be in any rush to get a new one due to cost of running them! What solutions are people using. I know people have said about using heated airers but someone in the family had one of the aldi ones and said it never really dried anything it just made one part of the clothes dry and left them damp still.

Big thanks all, got it sorted, did another factory reset and picked up dhcp this time round.

Have just checked the DHCP leases and none have been assigned to the mac address of the zone director either.

A local primary we have took over is having some networking work done. Part of this was to bring it onto our ip address and subnet. We never got given the Ruckus ZD credentials so have reset it however now i cannot get into it even when trying 192.168.0.2 as ip (set up my NIC to be on that range) Anyone seen this behaviour before as can't get into it to reset it back up.

Yes signed into both so work 1 shows @firstdomain and work 2 shows @seconddomain

Trying to figure this out and keep hitting a dead end. We have a customer who has two accounts one for day to day running and one for admin roles etc in office 365. I am trying to setup having two profiles for them in edge. So profile 1 will be normal and profile 2 will be admin When we set this up for profile 2 it automatically trying to use the profile 1 username when going to office 365 admin. So we can close the request and sign in using another account however it happens every time. Is there a way of stopping this behaviour, I was expecting on profile 2 it would bring up sign in screen or try with second account rather than first one.
