I lost it when the last woman said "Well, I've watched about 50 hours of videos"

Was the convention held to try and increase their sphere of influence?

What I want to know is - why have none of them checked? Judging by their "Common *snerk* sense" and "Logic" - surely they could man an expedition which heads straight out into the ocean to find the edge.

He says that when you fly in an airplane and look out of the window, the proof is there because the horizon doesn't change and it's still at eye level. You don't see into space or see a drop down. To answer an often asked query, apparently you won't fall off the edge if you take a boat to the edges of the earth as each side is connected.. however you might do if you go to the north or south as these contain some sort of eye-opening proof that the earth is flat and this is why the US government controls it and don't want the mass public to know about it. He says that's why planes only fly east or west. Supposedly satellites are fake too and are actually just two big antennas in either the north or south in one of these secret bases and that's where our satellite data, 4G etc. come from.

you dont need to go up in a plane a lighthouse will do as its easier with sea as its (roughly) flat and look at a boat from ground level and higher up its fairly obvious just requires a clear day and good timing (i suspect you could switch boat for off shore wind turbine just as easily

I really wish all these flat earthers who completely disbelieve scientific theories would just float the f*** away. After all, gravity is only a theory, right? (partly a

The whole anti-science thing is just getting tiresome now. 5live giving them airtime yesterday really struck a nerve with me.

Schools and universities have, for relatively modest costs, sent up their own weather balloons with an RPi or similar bolted to them to take their own shots. Surely the Flat Earthers could stick their hands in their pockets to show us some definitive proof?

the problem is they arnt scientists or following scientific methodology so dont want to challenge what they know to be true besides they would just blame the government/Illuminati/space whales etc for somehow using wifi to alter the contents of the cameras sd card/live transmission

you shouldn't believe what is being said in the media without experiencing it yourself

Shouldn't believe what is being said in the (mass) media - I can kind of understand that, as they are not there to report the truth, but to report what sells. They may report the truth, they may not. That said, the experiencing it yourself bit is staggering. So, did he 'experience' Jesus himself? There's so many fallacies there. We as a species have learned and evolved through collective knowledge - if you only believe what you've experienced, you'd still be in a cave shivering (or you'd already be dead having not experienced/believed that bears kill you).

Well I know it's not flat because its bumpy where I live I have been in the pot holes to prove it. :D Edited by JATSO

Simple enough to prove the flat earth theory, if any of them wanted to. Set up a laser beam on the west coast of Ireland, aimed across the Atlantic. If the Earth is flat, the beam would reach the eastern US/Canada.

Of course, if it doesn't reach then it was probably reflected off Atlantis or intercepted by black helicopters...

And how would we know which way to point it? A so-called "compass"?! How convenient!

Ha, these so-called compasses don't even work...

I hear they just use the sharp bit to force people into their sadistic spherical cult. ;)

Humans are idiots and should all be killed.

If you reject science you have to go live on an island with no technology, preferably in the opposite hemisphere to where you live now, so you can always look up at the different stars in the sky and be reminded how stupid you are every night.

Wait, so flat but bent so the sides touch... So a cylinder? Not flat at all.

And the planes which fly only East and West... and over the North pole.

That's what I find funny the inconsistencies to cover the silliness end up being even sillier.

I was invited to a local house group and I stuck it a while just because I like a good argument now and then. 2 of the 5 hardcore regulars were ardent conspiracy theorists. It's difficult because you know it's good to be skeptical and question what you're told to believe, but they go that step further into insanity.

Someone said last week that you can't change someone's mind with facts, only emotion. That certainly seems true.

Link: Flat-Earther to take off in homemade rocket in bid to discover truth | The Independent

Flat Earth Mad Mike.jpg

A man who suspects the earth is flat has built a rocket he hopes will launch him high enough to debunk one of the world's most fundamental facts.

Half a millennium of science isn’t about to get between 'Mad' Mike Hughes and his dream, and he's raring to go. The 61-year-old limo driver from California plans to launch over the weekend.

He built the steam-powered vessel using scrap metal and estimates it cost about about $20,000 (£15,000).

He plans to travel for about a mile at a speed of around 500 miles per hour, soaring through the sky above the Mojave Desert.

"I don’t believe in science," Mr Hughes told the Associated Press (AP). "I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air, about the certain size of rocket nozzles, and thrust. But that’s not science, that’s just a formula. There’s no difference between science and science fiction."...

I await the conspiracy theories surrounding his demise with interest!
