mikeprice Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Hahaha fair enough! I just recall that our local Littlewoods had a massive Berketex promo poster on its outside window. You could see it from the other end of the high street! ah ha - so it was the poster and not you going through the store handling the cardies and tops then Now I understand although I did go through looking at cardies and tops myself on occasion - for my Mum's birthday/Christmas you understand 1

synaesthesia Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Heard about this round here as it's a local company, and confirmed it's an ex employee going for it with the aims of returning to pre-2012 Misco before a lot of crap hit many fans.We always had a good relationship with them and usually had good pricing, but if they couldnt match something they'd be up front. Most of our preferred suppliers these days are other locals who were either started by or have many of those ex misco staff with them. Interested to see how it goes and will certainly give them a go
Arthur Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Should the 2 misco thread be combined??? Isn't the other Misco thread to do with Maplin?
elsiegee40 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Confused mod here. If there is another Misco thread then please PM me a link. I see Misco and Maplin and the companies aren’t linked as far as I aware

I see Misco and Maplin and the companies aren’t linked as far as I aware Hmmm well -they both start with am M so I got confused - and the concept is similar anyway whoops:sorry:
Fazza Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Three of the people listed as being involved are also involved with an existing supplier. They currently share the same business address as the same existing supplier that has a franchise option...
1TF0rward Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Not sure if this information has been said but I have just called "Misco" to see what was going on. They answered the phone as UK COMPUTER GROUP. I got passed onto Nathan to explain things. So basically UK COMPUTER GROUP has bought Misco and their website. He says that it is mostly the same employees so you may speak to someone you have done before. He said Misco went into liquidation in 2017 and will try not to make the same mistakes again. So basically it's UK COMPUTER GROUP trading as Misco. Their sales team is in place and taking quotes and orders I believe and he said they the website will be up and running by the end of this month. Does anyone think that it would be a good idea to add them to the IT Supplier list? Or shall I give them a try and see what they have to offer?
FishCustard Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Never heard of UK Computer Group - are they currently trading under another name?
1TF0rward Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Never heard of UK Computer Group - are they currently trading under another name? According to companies house they changed their name from UK COMPUTER SUPPLIES LIMITED to UK COMPUTER GROUP LIMITED.
Rob_D Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 wasn't UK COMPUTER SUPPLIES LIMITED the name misco was trading under before they went bust?
1TF0rward Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Nov 4 2010. Changed name from SYSTEMAX EUROPE LIMITED to MISCO UK LIMITED.
localzuk Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 wasn't UK COMPUTER SUPPLIES LIMITED the name misco was trading under before they went bust? No? They were Misco European Services Ltd amongst others. (Like many companies, I believe they had various Ltds, so Misco UK Ltd etc...) UK Computer Group run "UK Computer Supplies" - https://ukcs.co.uk/ 2

witch Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Maybe the name of this thread needs to be revised. Done
synaesthesia Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Pricing doesn't seem too great off the shelf at least (compared to other off-the-shelf suppliers) but assume they'll be able to work with those prices.
DrCheese Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Aren't they technically violating the GDPR using an old orgs mailing list to pick up subscriptions for the new one?
LeMarchand Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Aren't they technically violating the GDPR using an old orgs mailing list to pick up subscriptions for the new one? This crossed my mind too.
synaesthesia Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Blurry lines on that one? In the eyes of the ICO, is it a different organisation? New company may have picked up the names, but would they have inherited their ICO registration, created new or used the UKCS registration?. A little naughty either way; it's often done when companies change hands but that obviously doesn't make it right.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Now with a bigger and better and much improved website Blatantly untrue. The original Misco site had the nicest search filter going! It was the best thing about them by the end!
localzuk Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 The GDPR thing may be a non-issue - when this new company bought the assets of MISCO, they probably bought the customer data too - this is most often the case. Else there'd be no reason to buy a company any more.
DrCheese Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Has anyone used them since returning from the Grave?
synaesthesia Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Mostly for quotes, my primary has a couple of times - they're not bad but they're not setting the world alight with pricing. Our local preferred supplier (ex Misco people from the first time round!) nearly always hammers them on price and service.
