Is the previous incumbent contactable and on agreeable terms with the school? This is when I'd be nudging SLT / LM to chase them with sticks (albeit politely) for not providing access to systems when they left the job.

I am pretty sure one of our network engineers got the passwords cleared by holding down ONLY the clear button. This can be stopped in the configuration but never know.

Clear button held for between 1 and 5 seconds from what I remember.

 

HP Support can also give you a onetime password using pwrecover at the login I think?

Coming to this thread fresh today two questions spring to mind.

 

Did you try Spiceworks - with any success.

 

If there has been no map left then it's likely that there hasn't been any 'management' activity on the switches either and they are still holding the manufacturer's default passwords?
