Theory Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Not sure if this belongs here but meh. So the title is pretty self explanatory, I keep blanking/forgetting what I've done some days which is usually followed up by an overwhelming tiredness. The best/most recent example would be Sunday, I remember absolutely nothing besides hearing the faint ring of my alarm, and then I heard it again this morning. Around 2:00 I suddenly got hit by this overwhelming sense of tiredness, I'm not entirely sure how to explain it. What I don't really understand is that my mum wouldn't let me sleep for a whole day unless I/she thought I was ill, so did I totally blank Sunday, or did I genuinely manage to sleep through the whole day? If that's the case how come I'm suddenly extremely tired as if I got very little sleep after doing something extremely taxing on the body? Would I be wise to ask my mum about Sunday, or would it make me look like a madman? Any ideas to what this is or if I should go to the doctors? Or is this a common thing that I'm just blissfully unaware about?
the_one_that_cant Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Go to the docs fella, get checked out, if only for your own piece of mind. 1
3s-gtech Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Best to speak to the doctor. I have experienced similar in the past, due to a particular condition, but nothing is as vague as a remote internet diagnosis. It could simply be that it was so uneventful that it passed you by - if you do a long boring drive you'll know that feeling when you get out of your car and go 'how did I get here?'
rad Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Check your internet history....did you do anything on that day, then you will know
ellsandell Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Carbon Monoxide does strange things to the body - might be worth checking the carbon monoxide alarm just in case. Other than that, get an appointment at the docs. 1
elsiegee40 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 I completely agree with getting a carbon monoxide alarm. Stress can also trigger this kind of thing But we aren't medically qualified so, as well as making sure there's no CO problem, you MUST see a doctor asap
SpuffMonkey Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Yes - get yourself checked out - tiredness can be caused by many medical conditions, few of which you should leave untreated
Davit2005 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 See the Doc as others have said, don't get to worked up or stressed out by what you might read on the Internet, being there and it isn't worth it. 1
synaesthesia Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Please go and see a doc. Someone I know also working in a school (hopefully won't mind me posting this) was suffering similar, which turned out to be something VERY serious and requiring serious surgery to resolve. He's now on a phased return back to work and is a different person not having to deal with that sort of thing. I've had it too due to blood pressure issues, which is now thankfully managed with simple medication. See a doc and take your health seriously. Work can wait.
Theory Posted June 20, 2017 Author Posted June 20, 2017 Check your internet history....did you do anything on that day, then you will know I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary... Go to the docs fella, get checked out, if only for your own piece of mind. I have indeed booked a Doctors appointment now. Stress can also trigger this kind of thing I'm one of those people who don't actually stress as much, although I probably should. Please go and see a doc. Someone I know also working in a school (hopefully won't mind me posting this) was suffering similar Might I ask what it was? Although if not I totally understand that it's someone else's personal problem and whatnot.
synaesthesia Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 From my small understanding it was a growth on the brain pressing on the skull, causing pressure buildup.
witch Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 We are not doctors - but it could be epilepsy, or even something as simple as ME which needs to be addressed as soon as possible. just make sure you tell the doctor EVERYTHING - however small Good luck
SpuffMonkey Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 We are not doctors - but it could be epilepsy, or even something as simple as ME which needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Or diabetes or sleep apnoea
Theory Posted June 20, 2017 Author Posted June 20, 2017 Good luck Thank you! I actually managed to get an appointment at my usual Doctors for tomorrow, which really surprised me, I expected to be waiting a week or two, albeit it is early in the morning Glad I don't have to wait though, I'm not that patient of a person, especially when it comes to my health.
Patrick Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Write down all concerns and symptoms on a notepad as you may forget them, and see your doctor. It's easy to forget things during a consultation, and something that might seem small to you can be a big clue as to what your condition is.
Theory Posted June 20, 2017 Author Posted June 20, 2017 Write down all concerns and symptoms on a notepad I have
GrumbleDook Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 At the risk of sounding like I am attempting to help you relax and not worry about it too much (but get thee to thy doctor!) .... Set up a webcam in the house ... at least you'll be able to make a fortune selling the video of the aliens abducting you! 1
Theory Posted June 22, 2017 Author Posted June 22, 2017 I have indeed been to a Doctor! They're going to do some tests this Saturday, and they've sent me to see a Psychologist this Sunday. Luckily the tests wont be painful, and the Psychology, well shouldn't be painful either, It's just talking right? Currently the Doctor is unsure as he said some of the factors fall into more than one category, meaning it may just be, or may also be Psychological. He did give me a run down of what the problem may be, but not to worry about it until the test/psyche is over, for the official diagnosis. It's going to be a fun weekend.
Theory Posted June 23, 2017 Author Posted June 23, 2017 (edited) So, apparently I need to take my notes to the Psyche too, but the Doctor said I should probably touch up on them because they were helpful, but felt like they were lacking, anybody got any advice so I can perhaps touch-up upon some better notes? So I can be more informative? Edited June 23, 2017 by Theory
Svella Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 (edited) As someone who has personally been in this position less than a year ago, I can give you some insight. Notes don't amount to much, sure they help, but it's your problem, only you can possibly know what is going on, none of us. Now because you mentioned Tiredness, I can relate to that, truly. I've always kept my old notes with me because they remind me of a time where I was still viewed as normal and not treated differently, but these notes are what changed my life essentially, I used them as a guideline to speak to my doctor. I will tell you exactly what I put word for word, because I've come to terms with my condition. - Constantly tired throughout the day - Sleep for 6-8 hours on a Weekday, sleep for over 10 on a Weekend. - Some nights, I struggle sleeping majorly, it can take what seems like forever, other nights, I'm gone in minutes. - Vividly remembering more and more dreams, feels like I blink in the dream and open my eyes in the real world, as if I had the dream just moments before waking up, or maybe I was in the transition of being asleep, and awake. - Struggle getting up, also struggle waking up, can sleep through 10 alarms some days. - Near to impossible to concentrate, forgetting most things, I try to remember but it's almost fog like. - Legs feel weak, sometimes thing I may just collapse on the spot. Arms also feel weak at times. - Lost sense of balance, may be standing straight and then just tilt all the way backwards. - Head can feel like a bowling ball, a crushing force of tiredness - can endure it for the most part. - Have done things I cannot remember doing, albeit a terrible job! Only the basic of functions. - Phasing in and out, may be listening and then completely zone out, only to zone back in later. - Losing time, may be 10:18am and then a second later, 10:32am - cannot explain it, but this disorients me. *- Hearing voices / things that aren't there - usually a child's voice. Auditory Hallucination? These are the notes I had used as a guideline. Sorry this is long, but I hope it helps in some way. Your notes can only really define your situation, as we don't know it, we can't really help you. But I hope this guide / preview of what I did at that time helps you in some way. **** Thought I should also mention I have Narcolepsy and Cataplexy, and I do collapse at times, and can no longer endure the heaviness, never used to remember dreams - but now I remember them almost every time for the most part. **** Didn't turn the sheet over and missed the final point out. Still having those Auditory Hallucinations from time to time as well. Edited June 23, 2017 by Svella 2
JJonas Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Did you do a check for carbon monoxide? if not get an alarm or get a qualified gas engineer to check your boiler. Carbon Monoxide is extremely dangerous its not known as the silent killer for nothing. Are you the only family member experiencing this? Where is your bedroom in relation to the other bedrooms and the boiler? are you sleeping OK at night? Do you use a phone/tablet/computer shortly before or while in bed? Do you drink? Alcohol can decrease the quality of your sleep How is your general health? are you overweight?, underweight? hopefully you covered the above with you doctor.

Our Carbon Alarm is a-ok, and yes it's just me. I'm sleeping fine at night, I use my phone with a blue filter before bed / in bed, I don't drink, Underweight, but besides that I'm all good. 1
witch Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 @Theory Did you find out what you did on the missing Sunday?
Theory Posted June 26, 2017 Author Posted June 26, 2017 Did you find out what you did on the missing Sunday? Well, nothing out of the ordinary happened to my internet history, my mum actually asked me "How was it?" so I just sort of played along with the whole "Yeah yeah it was great" I obviously have no idea what she was talking about, but I guess I went out somewhere.
