techie17 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 (edited) Hi Our school provides the IT support for a number of charity shops and a community centre and i wanted to know what the best tool would be in order to achieve remote access to these sites. Each site has a broadband connection, one computer and a printer so not huge. Im looking at remote access software but i will need software that doesn't need someone to authorize the connection at the other end mainly so that i can run updates or install updates etc when no one is there. RJohnson91 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Why don't you just open up RDP ports from one network to another? Failing that, use Team viewer, login and save the computers under the 'my computer' tab... once you do that you shouldn't have to accept the connection on the other end. Ryan

Ryan Because that isn't secure?? And TeamViewer's customers connection info gets leaked so often I wouldn't use that. Many better alternatives.

If you just open up RDP from one specific IP to other specific IP's at the destination site on the firewall and not just the whole subnet it's not that bad TeamViewer also isn't that bad... Do you wear a tin foil hat?

Ryan RDP over an initial VPN (SSL VPN) will be a lot more secure. OpenVPN is available as a virtual appliance and will allow a max of 2 concurrent users free of charge of install. Or build one from scratch on top of Ubuntu or similar.

I also like being able to just copy and paste onto a remote server instead of opening a separate file transfer, this may not be unique to AnyDesk though. 1

Thanks JackCPickup, the quote I just received certainly is cheaper than LogMeIn, I just worry what the catch is. The noticeable difference I have found so far is that it doesn't allow you to blank the screen or support two step authentication which LogMeIn does. Will continue to do some research, certainly is quick though and the file transfer is very useful
cpjitservices Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 ScreenConnect for the win we love it here, copy and paste just works from/to what ever you are accessing. the ability to store credentials for machines you often access so no need for a password Very good software, and its fast.
