Hi all,

Please could each of you ensure there's a case raised for you quoting EP-4347 just so we can tie these together and help to investigate. I'm still unsure as to whether Impero is the cause but the more information we can gather the quicker we'll get the answers. If you'd rather PM me your details and have someone call back that's absolutely fine too.

Thanks

Mic

I haven't seen it again since upgrading to 6.0.79, while on 6.0.42 i could log off and on a couple of times and cause it.

Noticing the same here too, haven't had the issue since updating to 6.0.79

Just thought I would add my thoughts on this, I have experienced this issue when i upgraded my pc at work to 1703 last week. I used Wsus to deploy the update.

The fix, that worked for me. Turn the computer off and unplug the power lead from the back for a few seconds. Issue has not popped up since I done this.

Reminder that Shutdown in Windows 10 does nothing about fixing problems, it's just hibernate. Either restart or shift-click shutdown

I phoned Impero and quoted the reference number that Mic from Impero has listed. Apparantly they know about the bug. Hopefully it will be fixed soon! Edited by Wubbalubbadub

From my experiences here, this is fixed in 6.0.79, since updating to that version I haven't seen the issue on any of our machines.

I'll be amazed if it does get fixed if I'm being honest, the amount of bugs that have been "fixed" but still seem to exist are enough for me to be skeptical. If you upgrade from one relatively "stable" build it just introduces a bunch of other issues - and so the cycle continues.

Unfortunately not fixed in 6.0.81. Both myself and another member of staff have had the missing text since the update. Usually it happens when booting up from cold. Restart fixes it. We are both using Nvidia graphics. 64bit Windows.

Good morning,

Please could you PM me your details and we'll get back to you this morning on this one. I does seem to have resolve the issue here in continued testing (where I could replicate it before I now cannot) and with other customers who've had the issue and upgraded. I think the first thing for us to do is probably to check the versioning of the DLLs of a machine that's still experiencing the problem, and just ensure the upgrade has gone out to that machine properly. Once we know it's definitely got the right version on we can pull back the logs and do some further investigation.

Thanks

Yep. Thats what we had. Any computer now running V1703 gets impero disabled or uninstalled. We now moved to Netsupport and not looked back..

Those who are still having issues, have you excluded "dllhost.exe" from injections? As I had to do that to stop a different error. I'm just wondering if that doing that makes a difference.

Deployed 1703 with 6.0.79 to a large number of computers without this error occurring yet.

Hi all,

There are a couple of issues causing this. The majority of which are fixed in 6.0.79 and the remainder of which are resolved in 6.0.81 (now available). Please don't exclude injections where it can be avoided or without checking with us as you may disable functionality relating to e-safety (if we can't inject that application we can't monitor it for certain capture types).

Thats fair enough, however the start menu was causing an error popup every time it loaded in any way until dllhost.exe was excluded.

On a side note, random things haven't worked properly on fresh installs for a while due to the drivers being incompatible with 1607+ code integrity requirements (link). I gave up on the "block Internet" group a while ago for one, i also haven't seen it work properly with blocking websites on chrome for a while either.

I dont know exactly what the driver "ImperoInjDrv64.sys" does, but it hasn't loaded on any fresh install of our computers since the release of 1607 due to windows code integrity requirements blocking it. Disabling secure boot on a computer causes it to load properly, as the earlier link suggests.

Thanks @mitchell1981 and @mshakespeare for highlighting the potential issue with us.

For others watching the thread with interest, we’ve found an issue which appears to be outside of Impero.

Impero has a comprehensive hooking library which supports a fundamental part of our solution for monitoring, on occasion changes to 3rd party software can cause a clash when we are hooking. When this is the case we need to add them to our exclusions and when appropriate we would add these to our default list within our next release.

An example of this recently came to light and we are recommending users add the following to their exclusions list, fontdrvhost.exe should Impero end users be finding missing text following an upgrade to the Win10 creators update.

The fastest way to get help is to email us at [email protected] or give us a call on 01509 611341, and we’ll be glad to help.

Should you require any further assistance please don’t hesitate to get back in touch with us using the details above and we’ll be right with you.
