bald_pig Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Hmm. 3 coaxy looking cables. RGB to BNC? RGB would be an acceptable input...
bald_pig Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Another clue, this devices is available for multiple systems, not just the one displayed
synaesthesia Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 I'm guessing the one displayed is an Apple II device. However what you say makes it a multi-platform. Video input/capture would be my only real guess, especially where Apple is involved but couldn't really get any more accurate than that 1
bald_pig Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Not any old Apple II. They also made versions for the C64, Amiga, Atari, and PC as well...

This is a ComputerEyes digitizer card for an Apple IIGS! The manual can be found here: ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/documentation/applications/misc/ComputerEyes%20GS.pdf Here's a review of the C64 version: - - - Updated - - - its not a joystick card is it? Goes in the joystick port
synaesthesia Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Cor blimey. I've spent far too long watching 8bitguy's videos
Dos_Box Posted March 13, 2017 Author Posted March 13, 2017 Here's one that may be a bit hard. I only ever saw one of these and up until that point didn't even know such things existed. The school must have brought it some time ago (this was in 2000!) but it was still unused when I found it in a cupboard! It got binned. Part of the best pic I could find I'm afraid.

Dos_Box Posted March 13, 2017 Author Posted March 13, 2017 Is it for a calculator? Nope. It's an 'expansion' for a PC or old laptop.
Dos_Box Posted March 13, 2017 Author Posted March 13, 2017 Is it an OHP screen? like a seethrough TFT display that sits atop an old-school OHP? Bingo. The ViewFrame II. The idea was you connected it to a computer and placed it over an OHP. As I said. never used. It must have been very expensive too.

3s-gtech Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 We had a Viewframe here, don't remember binning it but not seen it for years It did make me remember something pretty obscure, wonder if anyone else has used/seen one?
HarryMonkey Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 We had something similar at my last school. Wasn't very good though from what I recall.

Yeah, as a pre-whiteboard and projector solution it's good. I'd love to know how much they cost though as teh tech it incorporated was not cheap back then.

3s-gtech Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Is the clue in the pic name, or are you throwing us a curve there? Haha no, just baiting with the name. @localzuk you're right - can you remember the era? That then makes it easy to find.
