Tesla Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Hi all anyone know anywhere selling the RM All in One desktops still? Their ruggedness is something that hasn't been matched, and for our pupils is excellent. looking for ones ideally with 2nd gen processors....
synaesthesia Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Not many although I've seen a few of the cases around on their own with their original brand on - think they were A-Open. Worth considering the VeryPC Flex, chassis is a standard desktop which the monitor mounts to, cover for all the cables and stuff and certainly stable enough.

rad Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 We got rid of 120 odd in the Summer or 2nd Generation (with the height adjustable 20/21in screen) some were rubbish, others ok but slow. I know TECHLOGIC-UK.COM LTD | Offering Computer Repairs Services and Sales collected them, not sure where they go after but these were dual core processors with 4gb of ram. 1
burgemaster Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 We stripped our RM Ones out and fitted with new mobo, ddr3 and SSDs. I think it cost £148 per machine. Also we bought a couple from eBay for 25each and again upgraded them. As you say they are pretty bulletproof. They can't fiddle with the wires, there bolted down and have scratchproof (kind of) screens. The only thing that we have had to replace here and there are PSUs but these are also cheap.

MOBO - Asus H81-PLUS socket 1150 8-Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer CPU - 3.6ghz i3s or when on a budget the dual core 3.5ghz - Intel Pentium Dual Core G4500 3.5GHz Socket 1151 3MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor - Ebuyer RAM - Crucial 4gb with lifetime warranty. SSD - Kingston 120gb £29.90 at the time! 2.5 > 3.5 adpators - 99p ebay Prices have rocketed, i think the mobo was £32ish. Everything fitted perfectly apart from there being no firewire socket on the mobo. PS. The motherboards also support two/three displays output at the same time which was good for projectors. I know the board we took out of one was a micro-itx, so wasn't sure what else fitted in the cases...

One thing that we did notice on the older RMs is that when we needed to replace a PSU they used a power supply with an extremely long cable for power to the board. We managed to get a replacement cheap PSU but they have a standard length cable. We had to also buy an extension something like.... 24 Pin Male to Female Extension Braided Cable Lead Power Supply Motherboard PSU

Was that plate holding the SSD the 3.5 to 2.5 adapter you posted? don't want to miss anything we've got a fair few of the originals still.
