Theldron Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Hi all, I am interested to find out what other schools do regarding Youtube? Do you completely unblock or block and white-list videos on request? We are just setting up RMUnify and User based filtering with SWGFL, so trying to look at the best way to deal with it. Cheers
rad Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 User based filtering, staff and selected students authenticate via LGFL (London)
IrritableTech Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 We use the google apps controls. So y7-11 get restricted access - meant to be only educational content. Year 12 & 13 get moderate access and staff get unrestricted. We can allow videos and channels as administrators for all levels if required. All user have to be logged into their google account or they get default restricted access.
rdk Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 We're a girls' secondary in Melbourne (yr 7 - 12) and we've had unblocked YouTube for about 4 years with no issues.
Lonix Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 We're a girls' secondary in Melbourne (yr 7 - 12) and we've had unblocked YouTube for about 4 years with no issues. Although we're not a girls secondary, we are in the same boat. Only issues we had was maxing out our broadband but this was on top of many other factors. I'd seriously consider a whitelist at some point but not my call to make.
DJ-1701 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Primary - User based filtering, staff access only. Secondary - Due to decision by DH and Head of ICT (Subject) at the time, allowed to all to use for Media studies, etc. If any abuse students get Internet bans.
FN-GM Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Staff - Allowed Students - Blocked Simple as that really.

Jehanzeb Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Staff: Access Students: No access However I would like to have a user based access, we use Google Education services. Just need to know how can we achieve user based filteration for teachers/TAs/PPAs and guest really. We've already created sub organisations in Google Admin so it's based on Teachers and Students etc Kindest regards J.
