Server room temp monitoring

I found a post from 2011 but think some of my requirements are now more established.

 

AirCon failed in our server rooms.

 

Now I want a temp sensor which will report by email and iOS app.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions?

We had ours fail on Thursday evening and then again yesterday..

We use: Server Room Temperature & Humidity Monitor ? WatchDog 15 Does the job and sends email alerts when set threshold is exceeded, but not notifications via app.

It doesnt do the app side of things but allows email notifcations and logging so we can see when the aircon failed.

APC netbotz are good, had one in both main and backup server rooms. Has camera, humidity, airflow etc, keeps history, email alerts and web interface

Built one out of a rPI and made a web site that graphed the history, also mailed out if the upper limit was hit.

We use a Ubiquiti mPort with temp/humidity sensor in our server room. It's set up to email when the temp goes above a set temperature. There's an iOS app available also for monitoring.

We have environmental monitoring network cards on our apc ups's in our three server rooms and they warn us via email if the temperature exceeds 25C or drops below 10C - air con should keep it at 22C. (The basement server room's ups also monitors the humidity)

Rpi and 2 sensors here, one on the output from the chiller and one for internal temp, all synced to xively and pushover on my phone.

mPort is pretty cheap but not as cheap as a Pi. However it's a plug and play solution you can have running in half an hour. We bought the current sensor to keep an eye on the power to the room as well - but I didn't think and it needs installing on a single core live or neutral which I didn't fancy. Instead we got a 9v DC adapter and hacked together a quick script and used another port on the mPort. If the power goes, it sees a fall in the voltage on the pin and alerts.

We have one of these in our main server room. Ours is fairly basic, but there are tons of add-ons if people need them including the physical entry recording and wet-ropes to detect water on the floor.

APC UPS has the add on in a couple of sites and a site we are re-doing we are using a kit that goes in the PDU and it has various probes that hook in and looks quite good.

I just use the temperature sensors built into the UPS's

We have 2 air con units in the server room, UPS temperature reports between 17 and 18 degrees. If one fails it usually increases up to 20 so this is the threshold level and then I get emailed to both work and home.

Works for me.

I made the mistake of buying a climate monitor from Swift Alert last year. They used to make the CM-2 units but this new one was a shambles; had 2/3 sent out as well as a number of CPU modules, but none have resulted in a working product. Useless. Avoid.

We're running ubiquiti mFi units too, cheap, just work, easy to set up. Alerted us last night when I forgot to turn the air con back on in one of the server rooms

We have an AVTech RoomAlert 24E here that does the job. Oversize for what we need, but when we bought it there wasn't anything that could do everything we wanted but smaller.

 

We have it for humidity, flood detection, power monitoring, light level checking and temperature checking.

Those using Pi's is there any specific software you used ? I like the idea of the MFi's but looks like they haven't been supported in a while

Utterly, utterly easy, just like anything else Unifi/Ubiquiti based really. Same sort of software service, just need an mport which connects to your network and the sensors that connect to that.

Cheers, I would be interesting in a power and temperate all in one system! Got 5 rooms to monitor.

If i have a copper connection between 2 switch rooms can I use 1 unit with a senor in each room please?
