Tempted as I had the One but broke it twice then got a cheap Motorola afterwards that's starting to die. Anybody else getting one?

I'm yet to understand the technology and terminology behind the carriers these things use - from all the crap it says about LTE, GSM etc, does it support 4G?

They're just standards for mobile networks, I think. LTE = 4G. GSM is an earlier standard. If I remember right, there's regional variances for the LTE/4G standards.

Still loving my Nexus 5, may be old but still holds up well against these new phones - 4G, NFC, latest android, unlocked, nippy Might be time to retire it though!

Might treat myself to the 3 or 2 for my Birthday. Works out cheaper to buy one of these and get a sim only deal. Contracts are expensive these days if you want a fancy phone!

Same as me I use my android phone all the time for android pay and also for NFC actions for example I can send pictures by tapping phones together, contacts and map locations so easy!

Does anyone know if a UK phone would work in Australia on an Australian network? I had an iPhone 4 on an Australian SIM and it was fine, so I can't see it being an issue.

Are OnePlus copying Apple? The design on the OP3 and the website are both similar to the iPhone and the Apple site.

File transfers usually don't happen via NFC itself since it's really slow (424 kbit/s). NFC is used to initiate the transfer over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct.

 

The actual data transfer here happens over Bluetooth. NFC is used to easily establish a short-lived Bluetooth connection without any tedious pairing process. For the average user, this should just work like magic. You don’t even need to know that Android Beam uses Bluetooth. In fact, you don’t even need to enable Bluetooth before using Android Beam. Android handles everything automatically. (Source)

 

I use NFC mainly for Android Pay, although I recently ordered some NFC tags since you can do some really cool things with them.

Shush, don't give them ideas. I think its expected that phones have screens and as such nobody sues, in the same way that Merecedes doesn't sue other car makers for daring to produce a car with wheels.

I'd be surprised if they haven't already cottoned on. After all, didn't Apple try and sue someone for daring to have a phone with rounded corners, or was it software with rounded icons?

It wouldn't surprised me if all the hardware comes from the same manufacturers to keep costs down and therefore designs are irrelevant just like cars which all seem to have more or less similar styling nowadays.

 

Lots of items today seem to look very much alike as we run out of ideas.

The 3 does look lovely, and the return of NFC puts it back on my radar (my smartband needs NFC to configure the initial setup) but since I've just renewed my contract with an S7 Edge, I can't justify spending £300 on another phone.

I really don't like that home button design. Just seems a bit cheap and naff to me, despite it serving a purpose (fingerprint scanner). I've grown to love the button-less design of my Huawei P8.

So, my cheap Motorola's death seems to be quickening. 80% charge before bed then 9% when I got up this morning. I don't believe in fate but it must be fate.
