Looking at replacing all the Classroom Teacher desktops (Approx 60 in total) using @ICTDirect_Dave - need to wait until September for budget unless we can get before hand and have an invoice dated 1st Sept

I'm torn between the Dell OptiPlex 790 or HP Elite 8200 (both i3 versions) The specs are very similar!

Ive used the OptiPlex at a previous school and had no issues. Currently using some HP Elite 8200 (i5 version) and again had no issues with them.

So.... which would you opt for and why?

I vote the OptiPlex, used them in one form or another for 10 years now and very rarely have found them to have problems.

Whichever has the smaller base, because desk space is a premium these days! :)

Must admit I hadn't thought about that - the Dell is smaller by approx. 5cm in width and depth looking at the specs.

Dell, because their website is much better than HP's (downloading drivers, checking warranty, general speed etc. is all easier or better I find).

Sorry for the late reply, I've had a week off enjoying the sun in south west wales :)

We can do this for you no problem :)

As for the best choice, its probably down to preference at this point.

Dells are smaller, and have a nicer diagnostics package but they're also cramped inside and harder to work on.

The HPs are bigger but nicer to work on and you rarely need a diagnostics package.

Whichever has the best build quality and speed - ask if you can have one of each to test and see which one you like the most.

We have 90 refurbed SFF 990's and they work wonders. Had them running for 2 years so far! Might i add that 3 rooms of 30 have room temps of 30+ at times and still no issues with any of the machines.

We had one motherboard die due to a capacitor blowing and dell fixed it because we couldn't be bothered.
