Garacesh Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 That lump in the middle, is a wheelie bin. As you do On the plus side, get the woodwork dept out there and have a boating contest. If your electronics dept have things like step-motors and radio receivers, mix it up with a RC boat race
witch Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Just arrived home. We had the fire brigade on site to rescue some folks in a low lying building, 1ft of water inside and it was still rising. That was music so lot's of amps, instruments etc will be just lying about. I looked in on an ADT room with computers (some of our best kit!), milling machines, 3d printers etc - water pouring in from the ceiling - most of it will be ruined. School will close tomorrow while we try and clear up. Quite heartbreaking to see :-(. Maybe if the kit was off, and is left long enough to dry out, some of it might recover? Hope so. Sending eduJD and hugs 1
Tesla Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 We had a good storm yesterday afternoon. Shame about the flooding that came with it. OH had a nightmare journey home as the main road through to the a5 from her work was flooded.
witch Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 We have very heavy rain here, and thunder and lightening! Yay!!! 1
DJ-1701 Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 We have very heavy rain here, and thunder and lightening! Yay!!! Please send some this way. 1
6Foot2 Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 Maybe if the kit was off, and is left long enough to dry out, some of it might recover? Hope so. Sending eduJD and hugs The same has been 'promised' by the weather service for here for the last three days, but nothing happened.
Andrew_C Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Annual "Open Day" and cricket match tomorrow. All sorts out door events...
pcstru Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Maybe if the kit was off, and is left long enough to dry out, some of it might recover? Hope so. Sending eduJD and hugs In the end I think our IT got off lightly. Lot's of carpets and flooring to be ripped out, but only a dozen or so PC's pulled out of rooms to to dry. Probably one machine dead which was below a waterfall surrounded by the 3d printer and scanner. Lot's of clearing up and disruption. Perhaps our Summer is now Monsoon season, along with spring, autumn and winter! 2
6Foot2 Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 VERY heavy rain now. No thunder or lightning.

elsiegee40 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Sunshine at the moment, but we have clearly had a lot of rain overnight
Homer Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Could hear the storm that was over London from my corner of the woods (near Uxbridge) and it did sound quite lively. Had a couple of almighty booms as well and a shed load of rain Should be in for some more today too!
Andrew_C Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 The odd rumble around 20:00, and obviously a lot of rain (roads closed etc) but really unimpressed with the quality of storms around here.
rickjames Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Quite enjoyed it from 11pm onwards, very soothing. Highlight was being woken up at 1:30am, grabbing a cold glass of milk and watching nature do it's thing...
simonw Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 I normally like to watch the thunderstorms, its the unbridled power that gets me - just awesome. But last night I had just got to sleep at about 1:30 and there was the loudest clap of thunder I have ever heard. I guess right above the house, I woke up swearing, my heart was racing, the house was shaking. Its the first time I've been properly scared by thunder, but I guess it was I had just fallen asleep that made it worse. Dark clouds are gathering and more storms are on their way. Location: Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Arreks Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 So much rain this morning :| really messed with the trains into London. I enjoyed the thunder/lightning show last night though!
Davit2005 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 So much rain this morning :| really messed with the trains into London. I enjoyed the thunder/lightning show last night though! Messed with the roads as well, puddles everywhere. Normal places that at 6am are normally clearish had queues of traffic AAARRRGGGHHH.
AJWhite1970 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) Stood on the top of the Purlieu at 1:30am this morning with a clear view across from Bournemouth round to Southampton watching the storms over the Isle of Wight and the Channel which was pretty cool (the dogs wanted letting out just in-case you think I'm mad,,,) Really hot and sticky at work and getting darker by the minute, really need a good storm to clear the air and looking at the radar, hopefully ones coming in shortly.... Not here, not yet - raining a bit and has got quite dark but that's all I WANT A BIG THUNDERSTORM Edited June 23, 2016 by witch
elsiegee40 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) There is an awful lot of rain falling at the moment. I wish I didn't have to go out for a meeting... hopefully it will abate in the next hour? EDIT And now the thunder Edited June 23, 2016 by elsiegee40

elsiegee40 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Link: Weather Radar - Live UK Rainfall Radar - 5 Minute Updates - Netweather.tv Yup. I've been watching that ... and hoping the power stays on. I'm glad we live at the top of our little hill. The people who live on the bend at the bottom possibly have a garage full of water now.
