Boredguy Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Just noticed that Yammer is now integrated into the "Office 365 Education Plus for students" licence. Has anyone got a PS script to just remove part of the licence as we don't really want it enabled at present (and I went to the effort of disabling yammer in the Admin centre previously)
saintoctopus Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I've managed it, if you're still looking for a script?
Boredguy Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 If you've got one @saintoctopus it will give us something to do on Monday as my sneaky plan of changing the users licence on mass via the GUI was not going to work as you can only do 100 at a time =(
Boredguy Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 Cheers @saintoctopus, script is happily updating all the students now
saintoctopus Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Cheers @saintoctopus, script is happily updating all the students now Yay! I helped 3
rpettit Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Is it possible to be PM'd this script...would be a great help
JonThompson Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Could you send me a copy as well please? Thank you!
speckytecky Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Yes please to a copy of your script. Cool - I've PMd you
rpettit Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Hoping for a PM with this script...sounds like a time saver!!
CHU Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I need the script, I tried one but it didn't work for me. I've currently added my home IP to the only allowed IP range in settings, so at school etc you just get a disabled IP range message when it's clicked until I can properly disable it.
xlandhenry Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 After removing the licenses, don't forget to enforce Office 365 sign in and block users without license in Yammer security settings. 1
apearce Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 hey - i wrote a few powershell scripts for this - they are on my blog here Disable Yammer License in Office 365 Education | Blog: Alex Pearce (Office 365 MVP) 1
sjatkn Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 For those with Salamander Software AD sync then it can remove the Yammer SKU from students, you just need to ask their support team. I asked Microsoft if Yammer had any way of reporting abusive posts, which, no surprise it does not as it is designed to be used in a professional environment. I don't know who's idea it was to turn it on by default for students, but they certainly did not think about the consequences. Anyway they pointed me to this site and suggested that I put it in for the developers. Research ? Yammer UX Team. 1
jslate1980 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Hi I would suggest not using apearce script on his blog, as when I tried it I found it didn't work but randomly it removed a few staff members exchange licences.
saintoctopus Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 I've replied to all who requested - if you still need it that is :-)
jslate1980 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 After removing the yammer licenses onsite I found it wasn't stopping students who had already logged onto yammer from accessing it. After a Microsoft call I was told you have to enforce license restriction. To do this go to Admin > Yammer > Security Settings > Tick the Enforce the office 365 identity > select ok and then save. Block Office 365 users without Yammer licenses tick box will appear underneath > Tick the box > select ok and then save. 2
tj2419 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I've replied to all who requested - if you still need it that is :-) Hi could I have it pm'd too please? Cheers
themightymrp Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Would you possibly send me this script too? It's driving me potty!
saintoctopus Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Is this script still available? I've PM'd you with it...anyone else? Ping me 1
