Wow, that is truly ridiculous. People get offended by many things, why should we be changing our literature so as to pander to one group or other.

As I'm not a religious person, I don't care if books could offend people - they are books, one of the few areas where you can truly express yourself.

I am a catholic, and I have to watch this 'once catcholic' country turn into something else - It sickens me. It's completely outragious. I'm all for diversity, but where are our rights as citizens?!

kerrymoralee9280 - so you are saying that it was all Henry the Eighth's fault then?

Actually you did not read the article correctly, anorak, as it was also saying that the 'three little cowboy builders' was also deemed to be possibly offensive, which has nothing to do with religion, race or anything else!

And localzuk - you don't care if books offend people - fair enough but are you suggesting that books advocating, say, murder, are OK to give to small children to read? This was talking about books for very small children.

Having said that, I do agree that this is ridiculous and I have spoken to a Muslim friend who has absolutely no idea whythe idea of a pig building a rubbish house has any offence in it for the Muslim community - he thinks it is nuts as well!

I bet NONE of the people who complained were muslims, just wishy washy liberal holyer-than-tho meddling do gooders.

Just a thought!

Shall we create a social group called 'Three Little Animals that were once called pigs but we're not allowed to in case we offend somebody" ?

The three little animals who construct a dwelling, but are not necessarily affiliated with the construction industry.

Their dwellings are destroyed by a larger animal, who exerts increasingly large airstreams upon them. This however isn’t an act of [please insert your deity here]

when will they realise that stunts like this ony make people think that our government care more about foreign communities than english ones witch in turn just insites more racial hatred against muslims,

like some one said i bet not one muslim has ever complained about the story since it was wrote 150 years ago. so why go changing things just incase it insults them?

its supposed to b multi culteral not change the existing culture to suit others

What a load of rubbish - two points here.

Firstly, not all three pigs in the story build rubbish houses anyway, and secondly, give a real pig a pile of bricks and a bag of mortar and see how good a house he builds... So at worst it's portraying a pig's building skills accurately! :-)

Yeah, and why use pigs in the story anyway? Far better to have kangaroos or something - at least they're quite dextrous with their upper limbs/arms...

I mean they can box and stuff so why can't they build houses?

(Is it obvious I've had a half day & spent the rest of it in the pub?)

It's been done, read James Finn Garner's book Politically Correct Bedtimes Stories (http://tinyurl.com/33enog) - a very amusing take on the whole PC thing, including Little Red Riding Hood killing the Big Bad Wolf herself as an act against the stereotyped portrayal of women being helpless without men.

Maybe it's a ploy, a conspiracy that the government is working towards. Maybe they want us to rise up and overcome these times together..... Or maybe our government is clueless and cares more about looking good to the rest of the world.
