MkII Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 So I've been looking into leasing for ages and finally took the plunge beginning of October ad went for a Nissan Leaf all electric, same stats as the Zoe above basically (but nicer and with better gadge IMHO) So straight away fuel and depreciation cost me £8400 in 2 years Nissan Leaf (showroom car so loads of extras), Deposit £3500 Monthly lease £130 Charging £1 per night Total cost over 2 years £7350 Plus its got me almost £3k leftover from Seat sale, I'm straight into a shiny new car, minimal servicing cost, zero tax, free recovery if I run out of juice. Combined with free chargers at every motorway services means I could drive to Scotland for free! I've been converted to leasing and electric cars and look forward to getting the new 200 mile leaf in 2 years time. Nicer!! The leaf fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down haha Of course the Leaf is slightly bigger hence the premium, which is worth it if you need that. A 6'6" Leaf owner in my town did mid Wales to Scotland for 55p (initial charge at home). 200 actual miles range will be game over. 1

denzal2k4 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) This was my gripe with the leaf, those stupid headlamps if it wasnt for them it would look like a standard hatchback, doesn't bother me too much though. Also to add to the OP if looking at getting a new car consider sites like drivethedeal.com they are a brokers and negotiate the best deals with the forecourts, won't necessarily be a local garage you get it from but can save thousands, and you still buy it from the garage just the initial savings have been pre arranged by drivethedeal.com For example Ford ecoboost hatchback zetec list price for standard is £15,500 drive the deal have it at £12786. Nice and swift from a standstill, cheap as chips to run, and very relaxing to drive. I'm getting about 70ish miles to a charge on country roads in these sub zero temperatures. I only do 52 miles a day so it's perfect for me. I leased a Seat Mii before that for 3 years and handed it back just before the MOT etc was due. Kept it in good nick though so thankfully didn't get any wear and tear charges at the end. If you can find a good deal that fits your circumstances then it can work out favourably.

Hi Jon if you don't mind me asking what price do you pay for the Zoe? I'm seriously considering getting one on a lease deal for 2 years.
jonbd Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I went with a PCP in the end as it was considerably cheaper - £250 deposit, £183 a month for 12,000 miles a year, 24 month PCP, with a home charger install included. That was from my local dealer so not the cheapest i'm sure. I will be handing it back at the end and getting another EV, don't think I could go back to a standard car again now! Getting into a toasty preheated and defrosted car and not having to get the de-icer out in these cold conditions never gets old! 2
denzal2k4 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Didn't realize how cheap the Zoe was (my leaf would have been nigh on £30k before all deductions etc), or I would have given it another look, sounds like it has the same range and most of the features of the leaf, climate timer etc does it use the same rapid chargers as the leaf? Have the option of a 4 hour charge at home aswell?
jonbd Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Yeah charges in about 3 hours or so from flat, so the equivalent of the 6.6kw leaf I think? You don't get the option of the slower charger on the Zoe as you do on the Leaf. Rapid charge is limited to 22kw on the version i've got (Dynamique Nav) but the old version with the 44kw maximum charge speed is still available as the Dynamique Rapid charge or something (costs more though). I doubt I will ever charge on anything other than my home charger anyway, so don't need the faster rapid charge. 1

zag Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The Tesla cars are game changers, they got so much right with them other companies look positively last generation. Reminds me of when the iphone came out and loads of people said it wasn't worth the money ect ect, then you actually use one and you suddenly "get it".
witch Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Daughter's boyfriend worked at Tesla over the summer and got to drive them all over Southern England. He was coming down to see us as one event was nearby but it got cancelled, sadly
