Norphy Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 That... just looks awful. And directed by the Fast and Furious director? Smh
unixman_again Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 What Norphy said. Roddenberry must be spinning in his grave.
DJ-1701 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Did anyone else see a Narn crossed with a Jem'hadar at 1:04?
6Foot2 Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Did anyone else see a Narn crossed with a Jem'hadar at 1:04? For comparison: A Narn [G'Kar from Babylon 5] A Jem'Hada [ikat'ika from Deep Space 9] 1
NokiX Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I think one of the top comments for the video was something along the lines of the film looks like a spin off of guardians of the galaxy which from what I can see is pretty much exactly what it looks like.
Crumpet Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I was a bit underwhelmed by it myself. Is this just a teaser? There didn't seem to be much going on with it apart from a lot of CGI.
sparkeh Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Unfortunately, for me, set anything against Sabotage by the Beastie Boys and it looks awesome. :/
JJonas Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Unfortunately, for me, set anything against Sabotage by the Beastie Boys and it looks awesome. :/ I agree, it's an awesome track. For anyone who has not seen the original video, it looks like they had so much fun making this. 1
bennz Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I actually liked it and am looking forward to it BUT for me its not Star Trek its more than a country mile away from what Star Trek should be about.
Boredguy Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Did anyone else see a Narn crossed with a Jem'hadar at 1:04? No-one here is exactly as they appear. 2
Boredguy Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Swedish meatballs? Nope, it's proper Breen imported from homeworld. But yes seems JJ is getting Star Trek so far away from what it always was that it is more comedy than science fiction.
Roberto Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 It might be a very good sci-fi action type film but as a piece of trek it looks rather misjudged.
PotNoodleTech Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 No no no!!! I thought the two JJ Abe reboots were really good and now they've gone back to the bad old days.
DJ-1701 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 No no no!!! I thought the two JJ Abe reboots were really good and now they've gone back to the bad old days. I... can-not... believe... that... Spock .
unixman_again Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 The reboots canna take much more o' this captain! 1
LeMarchand Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 It's like I'm on the IMDb boards in here. What a bunch of Grinches!
Norphy Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I liked the first reboot film despite the utterly stupid ending (Giving a raw cadet the rank of Captain and giving him command of the flagship? Oh please) and even Into Darkness had its good bits but this... this... I'm lost for words. I'm hopeful that the new series that UPN are supposedly producing will give us some more traditional Trek. It's been too long. 1

UPN ceased to exist in 2006, its CBS that are making the new series. Though with the executive producer of 'Star Trek' and 'In to Darkness' in charge, we might be in for more of the same :/
CAM Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 As far as I care, Spock fell through that hole in the prime universe to whatever mess JJ Abrams created and everything has carried on as it is. Not that it's the first time Star Trek has messed up the universe, wonder when the Temporal Investigations show up to put things right. It should be part of the Temporal Cold War? Or just wait for Q to show up and click his fingers "Ohhh it was all just a bad dream Captain Picard!" 2
