It's going to suck, The TV version of From Dusk Till dawn made me realise how good Clooney was in the role and the replacement actor just wasn't of the same calibre. Here we have some unknown actor attempting to do the same by replacing Jackie Chan.

I was a bit underwhelmed by it myself. Is this just a teaser? There didn't seem to be much going on with it apart from a lot of CGI.

It Needs to be HDMI 2 and HDCP 2.2 compliant. My TV has 3 HDMI ports but only one is HDCP 2.2 compliant. I've no idea why they do it this way, must be a cost issue or something..

I agree, HDMI has been around for a while so they must have know from the outset that there was going to be an updated HDCP standard for 4K and a rough timescale of when it would be released. I only found out after i'd recently bought a UHD TV. Luckily mine is compliant.

Be careful with buying a 4K TV. Not all of them are HDCP 2.2 compliant so they won't be able to run Ultra HD Through the HDMI socket unless they meet this requirement. HDCP 2.2: the TV spec that could ruin 4K | TechRadar Given that the same thing happened with HD LCD TV's when they first came out, you'd think that they'd learn from their mistakes.

They sold out from the website on the first day. I picked up one up in Tesco's free on the magazine. I called back to buy a couple more the next day but they'd all sold out also. At £4 they do have a novelty value about them. Mine is still sealed in it's box.

Graphics drivers were often a pain via the RMMC so i'd try and see if it would install the driver via windows update first. There were still the occasional drivers here and there that needed a manual install. It's not a perfect system but i found it for the most part it worked quite well. I guess you need to figure out what's more time/cost effective in terms of buying from RM or going to third parties to purchase PC's.

You can add Drivers into the RMMC on CC4. I think so long as they're Vista compatible (from what i remember), you should be able to PXE boot to them with CC4. I used to build a vanilla Win 7 stations and then use Double Driver to save the drivers onto a USB so i could import them into the RMMC.

Vista was a dream OS in comparison to Win 8

I picked up a 7" ASUS ME170C for about £60 off Ebuyer recently. Image quality on the camera isn't great but i'd take it over an iShiny iPad any day.

Probably more of an issue way back in the 90's when Win 98 and 8MB GFX cards were all the rage on standalone PC's. Where i think is that it might have an effect is if it's a networked PC if all that data would have to be downloaded to the local C: drive of the PC you are logged in to.

Copying casette tapes was illegal too back in t' olden days too and nobody gave two hoots about it. It's one of those laws that is practically unenforceable because almost everybody does it. So long as the person has purchased the original CD i can't see anyone caring.

Have you looked to see if there's any Raspberry pi projects that do something simiar?

Our head decided she wanted an app/new website and it turned out to be a dreadful waste of money. I won't name the company but they really shouldn't be trading it was so bad and the school paid a good sum of money for an absolute pile of useless carp.

Back when we only had 26k modems i said that it was way too slow to load a webpage and hardly anyone would bother using it. Famous last words.

Yes and it was a pain to get working. If i remember correctly, it needs to be set up to run on a network so the licences are validated via the server. We also had a GFX compatabiliy issue but it was eventually resolved via an update. You can run the updates during the install process if you do it manually. We didn't deploy it over the network on CC4 despite a few tries as it just died so i manually installed it instead. As the installation File is huuuge it took ages to install locally, there's a lot of bloatware to install. I'd also recommend usung decent specced PC's running x64 bit OS to take full advantage of the recommended amount of RAM.

You could always try masking the smell with another smell....burn jostics/ inscence or maybe take up smoking fags?

The Steam OS looks interesting. I might do a test build on a spare PC to see how good it is. I've heard that the beta has a frame rate lag atm and Rocksmith isn't available on it yet. Aside from that i'm very interested in it.

Thanks, my mantra has always been that if something hasn't been field tested then it's likely to go belly up so going into this blind on such a short timescale is a major concern for me. We're still waiting to get the training sorted too as we've been running RM since forever. Managing a Vanilla network is an unnkown for us. We're literally flying by the skin of our teeth this summer. We've got a meeting soon with the company soon so at least we can clarify exactly what they're doing and what we have to do to get things done for September. The two good things to come out of this is that we'll get a fair bit of money spent on training and a Vanilla Network but it's not how i'd have planned the changeover, not by a long shot
