Orange Thursday Black Friday What have you found?

I'm confused though. Do you input the broadband username and password into the router or the modem? Which one would be the DHCP server? Would it be as simple as turning off DHCP on the BT HomeHub and enabling it on the ASUS router?

The router acts as DHCP (so in this case, the wireless router you just purchased would be the DHCP server). The modem is just a bridge between your network and t'intwerwebs, just like it used to be in the dial-up days. All your ISP information goes in the router.

It may not actually be possible to just have the homehub in modem-only mode, given that it's BT. But it's worth a look nonetheless.

Ah ok. So literally all you do is connect the modem up to the phone line without any config, plug the the asus router into the modem and setup everything on the asus router? :)

That's all I had to do, but my modem and router came pre-configured. I modified the settings on the router, of course, but didn't touch the modem. Your homehub will already have its modem settings if it's acting as both, which means you just need to disable all router-bits (DHCP, wifi, etc) but I can't guarantee that will be possible - the operating system may not allow for it, in which case your only options are to replace it or flash a new OS. If all else fails, phone up BT, wait in a queue for an hour, get cut off, cry, and switch providers to someone decent that doesn't run a homogenised slow-as-a-snail-on-diazepam monopoly

Don't know if there are any of the Linx 7s left on eBay, but Amazon have price matched: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linx-1-83GHz-Quad-Core-Processor-storage/dp/B00O636WJU .

Nice! Laptop Outlet have put their price up to £57.99 and had cheekily increased the RRP from £59.99 (as it was yesterday) to £64.99! It's not showing the alleged RRP anymore though.

Wonder how long it'll take Amazon to cotton on that the price has gone back up.

You can still buy them now, no problem. We did so, as the students trashed any decent headphones they were ever given. They don't even bother trashing these things, as they're borderline broken straight from the box.
