kidpressingbuttons Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Anyone else using FMS with O365? Currently having issues setting up the email side of things within FMS after we have moved to O365. At the moment information regarding BACS payments are not getting out! Our LEA are recommending setting up an SMTP server onsite- is this what you are all doing?
matt40k Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Yup. Unless your LA has a SMTP relay you can use. Guide on Microsoft site that you can setup on the sims server or such - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dn592151(v=exchg.150).aspx 1
PhilNeal Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Please email a case number. [email protected] Thanks Phil 1
kidpressingbuttons Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Thanks guys- have now requested that the SWGFL open up all ports relating to O365 for my IP range will see if that fixes things. If not I will drop you a line Phil! Thanks again. 1
dry Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 It was an absolute faff for us to get it working too... but managed it in the end. I'll dig our case notes out if you don't have any luck with SWGfL/Phil. 1
FN-GM Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Although this talks about MFP's this still applies. Got this working in my old school with FMS and it was quite easy to do - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn554323(v=exchg.150).aspx 1
kidpressingbuttons Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Dry if you could do that would be a great help! Thanks FN-GM will give this a look over now- have had all the O365 ports open for our IP range and still no joy. Currently in the process of setting up a SMTP server.
Michael Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Forgive me for stating the obvious, but why can't you use outlook.office365.com as your mail relay?
FragglePete Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 We had similar issue; when we had an exchange server on site only that particular IP address on our range was permitted by SWGfL to send SMTP traffic and only then onto the SWGfL MX Relay (part of the SMTP feed service). When we migrated and turned off our Exchange Box, I setup a new VM on the same IP address and installed IIS6 SMTP Server and use this as a relay. Any devices or applications that require to send an e-mail (eg. Photocopiers, PFS, etc) use this device as the mail server which forwards it on via their MX server. Seems to work nicely for us. Pete
Boredguy Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Likewise we have a single server configured as a relay, mainly because our copiers are not able to send over port 587. We send all messages on to the SWGfL MX relay and it works fine. Also means that if we choose to switch e-mail provider at some point down the line, we don't have to remember to reconfigure all the different scripts and devices to go to a different SMTP site, we just update our local relay
kidpressingbuttons Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Ok- it appears the SWGFL have made the changes to the firewall I requested and FMS is now working with my log on. However it does not allow the biz managers account to send mail. So I take it this is now a O365 permissions issue!
