Apple TV - Are you using them?

Are you using Apple TV's in your school, if so how many?

 

Have you experienced any issues with adding more and more Apple TV's to your network. I remember being informed that they can be a massive drain on bandwidth and may perform badly if not managed correctly.

They constantly broadcast and can be a strain on the network. So it will have a performance impact on your network and switches.

Tried them. Ended up switching to AirServer which requires no kit just a licences download to the teacher Workstation. Under £7 for quantity of 10 or more. Works a treat. https://www.airserver.com/Buy/Education

We have 10 or so. Work well, not too bad in these small quantities. We do have a flat network, would need to VLAN if we got more but that is hopefully unlikely.

We have around 5 Apple TVs, and our new CleverTouch TVs in other rooms that can accept mirror mode from iPads etc and see no issues, although I do stick them on a dedicated 'Mobile' VLAN.

We have 35 of them. Works fine.

We have around 100 of them. Few issues in the beginning getting them all working on the wireless, but after that the have been pretty painless!

We have around 50 - as long as you set the network up and use IGMP snooping should not be an issue

Around 50 here on a separate vLAN - no issues to speak of - "elite" staff have been given iPad mini's.....when they bother bringing them in from home they seem to work well....

They seem to work OK in one of our Primary schools but perform badly on our (Secondary) school network as they seem to require a lot of bandwidth and with all the students constantly on the wireless as well it just doesnt work.

We have just 4 , and they were unreliable until we had them on a dedicated VLAN. This whole Ipad Phase seems to be dying out now
