  1. We have had this issue as well, however I am not convinced it is the ActivPanel that is at fault. We had an ActivPanel changed under warranty and the engineers had mentioned if we had expereienced the fault, they were getting a number of calls about it, however they have only really started in the last few months. When they go out to schools, they plug in their own device it works as it should. I have heard some mention that a Windows update could be the root cause, that it seems to forget it is connected to a sound device, especially when the ActivPanel is switched on to standby. Switching the HDMI input or restarting the ActivPanel seems to get things back up and running, but I think getting to the root of the issue could take some time.
  2. Hi, This is a sign that the flipchart has become corrupt! (Yay!) We have a number of users who get this and Promethean's response has been to revert to a previous version of the flipchart. Unfortunately it looks like the most recent releases of ActivInspire have caused more issues than normal. I think they tried to put the blame on dodgy fonts that were in the flipchart but not on the PC, or if you have french characters that can cause issues too. However once you have restored to a previous version is seems to keep on working with no problems for at least a while. If you can revert to a previous version it should show correctly.
  3. NEC do an out of warranty repair service, which can include collection and delivery. Might be worth while contacting them and seeing what they say.
  4. Promethean amplifiers are just Cambridge audio ones rebranded. We bought a number of the Topaz A1 amps from richer sounds to replace the older ones. However we are ripping out all of our remaining IWB systems over the summer. We will probably have 50+ amplifiers going spare if you are keen. Only issue might be we are in Edinburgh.
  5. apologies yes, we have 75" 4K screens here, but the issue itself was caused by the firmware, though it did take some arguing from our side for them to admit there was a fault.
  6. Hi, We had this issue when we first got our V5 panels, check that the firmware on the panel is up to date, I think you will need version 1.0.0.6 or something like that.(cant remember exactly and not near a panel at the moment, though it definitely ends in a 6) Jonathan.
  7. Hi, We have removed a large number of projectors, mainly Epson EB-420's and EB-520s, and was wondering if anyone knows of any companies who would buy the projectors at all? It seems a waste to throw them away when they are still functioning, but to sell them on ebay would take an age and the school is not entirely sure how this would work with money and which budgets it would go back in to. We have tried contacting local schools, but none are keen as there are then support issues that are then required. We are going to end up with another 60+ this summer, they are more standard throw though. Any ideas would be greatfully received. Thanks Jonathan
  8. Hi, We have a number of the V5 4K 75" screens and some teachers are experiencing an issue where when they use their finger to touch the screen it is counting as a double tap in ActivInspire. So when flipping forward pages, it flips two rather than one page. When trying to access the menus, they cannot as the double click is opening and then closing the expandable menu instantly. This is very frustrating, but does not appear to be affecting every user. If the affected teacher uses the supplied stylus, ActivInspire works as it should. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jonathan.
  9. Thanks for that. Seems weird that 95% of teachers haven't had an issue with this and when you connect the ActivPanel it automatically selects both pen and touch input. But this has solved the problem which is great and teachers can do it themselves which makes it even better! J
  10. ah sorry ours are the 4K screens. but it does sound like the same issue we had and a firmware update fixed it all.
  11. Hi, We have had a number of V5 75" 4K ActivPanels installed this summer. Some users when they log on are not getting the differentiation between the pen and their finger. but if another user logs on to the same machine they get the option. I have tried resetting the users windows 7 profile and also deleting their Activinspire profile that is held within their my docs folder but nothing has worked. Can you help at all???? Many thanks Jonathan.
  12. Hi, contact promethean and they will be able to give you a firmware update. you are probably on version 0.0.0.5 and the upgrade will fix the issue of panel trying to take over and constantly putting it on to extended desktop. Took me a while to convince Promethean that the fault was with the panel, but once they were able to duplicate the issue they were quick with a fix. Jon
  13. Hi, I raised a case with tech support (00766726) and they have managed to resolve the problem. It turns out the problem was with the ActivPanel and the firmware version on it. I have been given a new version and updating this on the ActivPanels has resolved the problem. Jon
  14. Not sure if i can do this or not, but are schools still interested in buying second hand promethean activboards? We have a large number coming out of the school this summer and I'm trying to work out whether or not they are worth trying to sell! Some are old, original 75"'s but some more newer 78" and AVB378's thanks Jon
  15. I am trying to use promethean support, however I cannot log in to the support portal to register the panels as it appears no one can log in at present! I have taken a projector and plugged it in to the HDMI that goes to the ActivPanel, with this connected the PC happily sits with the outputs cloned with no issues at all, even after restarts and full hard boots. This issue must be with the ActivPanel, I have noticed that when the ActivPanel is connected that it states the optimal resolution for the screen should be 2880 x 288 which is a very unusual ratio. thanks
  16. i disagree, the PC happily worked with the ActivBoard and projector. The projector was via VGA and the PC monitor was via the displayport. This has been switched round so that the ActivPanel is via the displayport and the pc monitor is now via vga. The only change in the system is the ActivPanel and how it is responding to the PC. Are there any Firmware updates for the V5 panels at all?
  17. Hi, I'm a little confused, are you basically saying that I have to just live with it? We have over 150 ActivBoards in our schools and we have never had any issues like this. Once the PC is set to duplicate, it sticks. It is only since we have had these ActivPanels installed, which means the issue is not with the graphics card, but must be with the way the ActivPanel is connecting/communicating with the PC. I would expect that upgrading to the most recent panels in your product line would reduce our issues, not add to them. Jon
  18. Hi, Yes you have the problem correct, the only addition is that when the ActivPanel is detected during PC boot, then the ActivPanel becomes the main screen with the PC screen as the extended desktop. We would want to screens to be duplicated/cloned all the time. We are about to install 50+ of these screens so we would need this fixed as soon as possible or else chaos will ensue at the start of the session. Thanks Jon
  19. Hi, We have had a number of V5 75" 4k Activpanels installed, but we are having problems with cloning the display. If the ActivPanel is off when the PC is switched on, when the panel is switched on the pc and panel will clone the display, however if you then restart the pc the Panel then takes over and becomes the main desktop screen and the PC monitor is then the extended desktop. We are using HP Elitedesk PC's with HP official displayport to HDMI adapters to then go to the panels on high quality Kramer cables. The PC's are using Intel HD 4600 graphics and the drivers are updated to the most recent version. If you could please give me some suggestions as I can find no rhyme or reason why the ActivPanel appears to take over and they wont just stay on cloned desktop. Many thanks Jonathan.
  20. try swapping a lamp from a known working projector. It could be the lamp is starting to fail and as the projector recognises this it is shutting down as to protect the projector itself.
  21. haha oops, too early on a Monday for my brain to be working properly!
  22. You can set Office 2013 to not use presenter view via a registry setting site wide details can be found here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/a91dea3b-9c88-4d2b-9545-e48c3055a16c/powerpoint-2013-presenter-view-is-a-big-issue?forum=officeitpro
  23. Yes it was Promethean who told us this. They did say this was the RRP for it, but that it should cost less especially if you are buying more.
  24. version 2.9 does not solve the problem. will contact promethean support, though I fear not much can be done in the short term. This will hold a majority of people upgrading to the ActivPanel if this cant be sorted.
  25. I played with the surface hub at BETT, it was a beautiful piece of kit, not sure it is worth the 20K though. The whiteboard software they are writing is pretty awesome too though, and will be free to use as well I gather.
