About Mimi-

  1. Evening. Can I pick your brains please on iPad interment use monitoring. Our iPads are numbered and we write down which number each child takes but I'm struggling to monitor their internet use. When children use the computers they log in and with our internet provider (RM safety net) I can see all web sites seen and who saw them. How can I do this for iPads? We've had some interesting searches recently and it's frustrating not being able to say which child. RM mentioned there could be a way that involved lots of configuration changes and it meant they had to write a user name and password each time their used the iPad. Is there and easier way? What do you guys do at your schools. We use jamf school MDM if that helps. Thank you
  2. We are not a Google school so no children have Google accounts not do teachers. We were sent 3 chrome books from our council for the children who have no devices at home in case of a bubble closure. The parent agreement that came with the chrome books says 'you are asked to note that we filter and a MDM is installed on the devices. The MDM can allow us to locate, disable and delete data and see the web addresses visited' They didn't mention a MDM to the person who collected them, how would I access this (or are they assuming we are a Google school and have something in place, which we don't) With the web filtering, isn't it the parents job to filter their broadband at home or are there settings I should change on the chrome book? I went to go on the chrome books but can't log in unless I create a gmail account, it's very hard not being a Google school and me never having touched a chrome book before. Thank you
  3. Morning. I know im recently posted about struggling to buy apps through apple store manager, it turns out i need to use the schools generic log in as thats what our vpp and mdm is linked to but i cant get into it... It was assigned to someone whos now not in the team and linked to his phone and he doesn't know the password anymore. I logged in to asm as myself as im admin so i could see his account and clicked on change password and change phone number. The change password worked but when i tpye in my phone number , or ive tried some one elses number also, we get a code but each time it says the code was invallid. If i cant log into asm in the account im stuck. Has anyone had this issue?
  4. Thanks for the replies. I'm a cover teacher also at the school so gave been put in clsss the last few days so havent been able to look into this further. I looked last night and the issue seems to be the asm log in name. Im using my own, but the mdm is linked to a generic one . I know the password for the generic one for the vpp website but not the asm so i cant get in. I need to start a new thread for logging in help!
  5. We brought the iPads in March 2020 and the company we got them from set it all up through the vpp and onto jamf school so if the migration was last December I feel like part of the set up was missing. At least I know know to look into the direction of migration and use your links to help me. My next step will be the jams school support desk but When I click on create a ticket it says tickets may be charged so am a little worried what cost I may occur my school! I might spend a little more time on goggle first. Thank you everyone
  6. I usually purchase app from VPP then go to Jamf school, sycn and ta da, my app is there. Now VPP is saying I have to buy the apps from my apple school account. I went apple school then to apps and books and purchased some free apps. But I can't see them in Jamf school as the sycn isn't working as it syncs from VPP. How can I get the app from apple school to JamF school. Thank you - I have googled and googled but I an desperate now.
  7. Evening. We have deployed teams, the desktop download, to all staff computers. Today we ran a test parents evening. One person could get the background option to chage the background, the other, with an identical computer, couldn't. My job next week is to get the one who could see it to log into the other computer but had this happened to anyone here? Same version of teams, identical computers bought the same day.
  8. Morning. We have UBF with RM safety net which has been working well for a long time now. Children each have a log into the computer, I can see what every child has been searching if needed and we can separate filtering for staff and children. Now we've introduced iPads I'm not sure where to go next. Our iPads are on the default filtering setting so they are going through our system but in lock down something happened and something was searched on an ipad and I was asked to find which child searched it which I couldn't do. All iPads come up as name 'not available'. Is there a way for our system to keep how we are managing the computers but also add a way to monitor the ipads more, at least so it can tell me which number ipad so the teachers can look at their sign out sheet? I'm still waiting for RM to call me back so I am trying to talk to them but it'll be nice to hear from real experiences and if doing this works well for schools.
  9. Amazing. Thank you. I have googled and searched their help pages with no luck. Thank you so much
  10. Afternoon all. We have trolleys of ipads all managed by myself using Jamf School. So far so good. The only issue I can't seem to find a solution to is how to stop students messing up the home screen. Certain lovelies are very good at putting our apps into folders with random names which is a pain for the next class who use the ipads. Some teachers aren't the best at monitoring the ipads so can't tell me who has which one to catch them out! (We are meant to have a system where we write which child has which number) Is there a way on JamF school where I can prevent children moving apps around the home screen? Thanks
  11. Morning. We are with RM internet and have their safety net and user based filtering on the desktops and a 'default' policy for ipads and any other devices that the children don't log into. The filtering system works well but I have a question about the apps and adverts they create. Generally, as a rule, we don't have apps that have pop up adverts (like the games you play and get extra coins if you watch an ad) But due to lock down the teachers are loving an app called Happy Colour. This looked fine, but I discovered that every 3 colouring sheets a video ad appears (so far mundane fashion ads). I have disabled the app as I can't guarantee what advert will pop up next but is anyone with RM who have managed to ban ads?
  12. Afternoon. We are looking into getting wired keyboards for a few iPads. We don’t want them to be Bluetooth for the reason you need to charge them and they are for our sen children who we need to just plug them in and go. i was looking at this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Wired-Keyboard-iPad-Mini/dp/B01I5O78HA which is discontinued so I didn’t look into specs too much but has anyone seen or used a wired keyboard that they can suggest. thank you we are getting new 10.2 32gb iPads to use them with.
  13. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchl9388ba1b/mac This explains a Caching server well, thanks for the idea, I will keep looking into it.
  14. Deferring I think is my next option, then I can turn it back on an update when I am ready or at inset days. I need to google what a a caching server is!
  15. Thanks Shellfish Clive, you've helped me with both of my posts today. Much appreciated.
