We recently finished The Handmaid's Tale. What an emotional rollercoaster and what an ending!

Superb but worrying vision into a possible future.

Dropped it 2/3rds of the way through S3. Too depressing; too repetitive. Maybe I should try to finish...

The Outlaws - Season 2 (BBC)

Welcome back to the Wild (south) West!

Following on directly from the first series, The Outlaws still have time to serve on their sentences, but now they must face the fallout from their actions. If they thought the criminal underworld or the local police were done with them, they are sorely mistaken. The Outlaws must depend on one another while working with unlikely allies to atone for their sins – but can they save themselves without sacrificing their souls?

Six episodes in all. We are box setting the series (via iPlayer) and we have reached episode 3.

So have people been watching Obi Wan Kenobi on D+?

I'm not usually that interested in Star Wars to be honest (I've not watched Mandalorian or any of the other TV series), but since it's got Ewan McGregor back I thought it'd be worth a look and so far, it's not bad.

It's alright. I'm not blown away with it, but the fandom menace is out there attacking it like no one's business.

In other news Ms Marvel was absolutely delightful. They've found themselves a star with Iman Vellani. She's very charming!

I'm looking forward to that, but Mlle LeMarchand wants to watch it with Mme LeMarchand and me - and she's away until Sunday (when it will probably be one of the other "group" shows).

I've been watching it and enjoying it so far. Yes, there are more than a few 'but he could have got out of that easily' moments, but otherwise it's entertaining me.

The Boys season 3 is great, although they have turned it up to 11 this season and I'm only three episodes in!

Prehistoric Planet on Apple TV+ is an amazing watch. It's like an updated Walking With Dinosaurs but the CGI is great and it's nice to see them depicted in a whole range of environments that they orginally inhabited. It's worth taking out a trial subscription for that alone!

I agree and can't help thinking that the fact we know what happens to Obi Wan in A new hope takes the edge off any fight scenes as we already know the outcome. It is still an enjoyable watch though.

Agreed, there are a few instances where another character was being chased which seemed ..... badly scripted/written as the chase should, in reality, have been much shorter than it was given the participants involved!

But, obvious plot holes aside, it's still good fun. Certainly good enough for me to give it 5 stars on every site I see 'fans' review-bombing it on!

There was an article on Cracked.com which pointed out that elements of each one in the series so far seem to correspond with their respective films, so

1) Split between Tatooine and a green and lush planet

2) Detective story

3) Climatic battle and horrible burns

4) sorry, something that also happened in ANH

Which I thought was fairly interesting.

Spoiler tags please!

Apple TV news:

Probably of most interest to members here who don't want yet another sub, but want to try "For All Mankind"; Season 1 is currently free for a limited time via the app. Those with Barclaycards might want to check their benefits if they like it, as I'm currently being offered 6 months.

Of much more interest to me: Keegan-Michael Key and Cecily Strong, along with most of the cast, will be moving from Schmigadoon to Schmicago and forward to the 60s/70s. BTW if anyone watched S1 and felt the ending was a bit rushed, apparently 2 more eps were written but the had to scale back as the pandemic was raging at the time.

Suspect (Channel 4, 8 episodes 30 each minutes duration. All episodes available to stream now)

Detective Danny Frater (James Nesbitt) makes a shocking discovery following the post mortem of a young woman.

Watched the first episodes of both 'The Lazarus Project' (which I think is quite new) and 'The Leftovers' (which aired a while ago I think)... on Now TV.

When none of our usual TV is on or we are all caught up, I normally pick a random and watch the first 5 minutes to see if it grabs me....

Wasn't expecting much as I hadn't heard or seen anything about them, but both kept me watching until the end of the episode and ready for more.
