I am hoping some fellow web designers and IT Professionals can give me their opinions and constructive critism on our school website that I design and maintain. I have posted in the past and thought I would ask for all your opinions again as a lot has changed on the website since then.

Looks good, like the menu structures and systems in place

 

Though I am no web designer, just an end user here, everything is laid out well to me.

Looks really good, I'm not a web designer but that was easy to use and everything is easy to read.

Does exactly what it needs to do. Only thing I'd do would be to up the image quality a bit on the 0image roll on the home page.

 

Oh.... and lighten the purple bar at the top. Bit heavy to my eyes.

 

Nice work. Like the little logos next to the menu titles

Very quick, looks like a good 2 click depth of page for information, excellent content, only one fault I came across:

I only had a quick look, but put the school phone number on the bottom along with the school address and perhaps a contact e-mail address?

 

Otherwise looks really good. Easy to navigate!

Excellent layout, I picked a few random topics I might like to find out as a parent before I even clicked the link, and then went hunting for them, had no trouble finding them.

 

Only negative comment I'd say is get rid of the guestbook. Those things serve only to provide 419 scammers with a fresh batch of email addresses. Never been fond of them. But hey, that's just me.

I'm not really a Web designer either, but i've dabbled in CSS3. But it looks really good!

 

a few little critiques though; On the Reading at School page the font on the documents seems a little small to me.

 

It's readable; even without my glasses, but some may struggle. Plus, there's alot of information on that page + comic sans?

 

Maybe cut it down to key points and have the option to download the full leaflet?

On the front page you have a semi-colon AND an "and". Should be one or the other:

I'd suggest the semi-colon should be replaced by a comma.

Have you considered making the design 'responsive' to fit varying different sizes of mobile and tablet screens?

Like it. Does what you need. Significantly better than one I have to use regularly (won't name the school, different part of the country).

The staff mugshots - as on so many websites - are a bit mugshot-like. I'd try to get pictures of the staff doing things - teaching, marking, cooking, NMing, whatever....it would provide more personalisation.

I like it a lot, the photo slide show on the home page slows it down a lot until it loads. Consider smaller images.
