Anyone looking to pick up God of War? I loved the old ones and this new one is getting pretty unanimous praise across the board (94 on Metacritic).

Yes - but it'll have to join the back catalogue of games I still have to carve my way through.

Still gotta finish P5 first.

na it looks too violent/gorey for my taste

Should be called Wad of Gore, amirite?

lol if you like that sort of thing its probably a good game but even the trailers put me off (for reference i gave up on the walking dead tv series after about 1 1/2 episodes for the same reason)

To be fair, violence has always been a big part of the God of War series (and sex mini-games!) so if gore isn't your thing then yeah it is probably best avoided.

Replaying Bioshock 2, only in 'nasty man' mode this time (harvesting Little Sisters)

Every time I've played Bioshock I've always been nice, but I just wanted to see how different the game felt to get a power spike earlier and end up worse off by the end of it.

The Little Sisters constantly remind you they've been a 'good girl' and hope you 'aren't mad' and stuff :(

Now I feel even more like a jerk.

You might already be aware, but Skyrim: SE is having a free weekend on Steam this weekend and it's 50% off, making it £15. :)

I'm still enjoying every minute of exploring again, and I would play it every free minute I have if I could. My mates have other ideas, though... We had a very good Easter weekend playing PUBG, and we managed to triple our chicken dinner count (we're up to 3 wins now...). More recently, we've been trying to re-discover other multiplayer games, like Killing Floor 2 and The Division.

KF2 has some awful server matchmaking mechanics which we haven't quite been able to work out yet, and there's no option to run a listen server, which would be perfect for us...

The Division has had a recent update which has revamped a lot of stuff, but we didn't see any more missions. Perhaps we haven't looked hard enough. It was still fun to roam the streets and shoot things, though, and it was nice to see that I could increase some graphics settings since the last time I played. It's an incredibly detailed game!

Seen that, very tempting, but I can’t run it til I get another PSU, but gotta scrimp and save for it. Looks like I am going to wait until it comes on sale again after in the year.

only 4 trophies off platinuming persona 5 now. 2 will auto pop (all confidants the 2 levels im missing are story related and I just need to advance the story but cant yet the other the platinum when I do everything else) the other 2 are complete the "pokedex" which im ~70% done with but cant complete as I need money and/or levels and the final one is beat the twins which ive tried a few times and cant get past move 16 before they wipe me out and im on the last day in the game where you can do it so I have 2 choices 1 ignore it this time and do a run dedicated to that from an earlier save file (I suspect that wont work well as it would mean less good confidant rankings so less good persona) or a long grind, luckily im in a position to do that its just going to be a long and tedious process to go from low 70s to much higher when all I can fight give me ~1000 xp and levels are 15k+ at least sp isn't an issue I can regen that and swap my party round so they regen it as well. shame I didn't take advantage of the flu season weather earlier in the game as that got me 9 levels in a single cheesed fight but doing that without cheesing nearly wiped my party out in 1 hit last time I tried it yesterday

I have beat the twins at around level 65 and my main tip is that using 'Yoshitune' with all the skills learnt is extremely useful.

what difficulty?

ive got yoshitune but I keep getting to round 16 and getting booted for not causing enough damage (also got Satan/Michel and a few other level 90 odd persona) I just don't seem to be able to do much damage to them (90-150 ish) and they keep hitting my weaknesses even with dodge as high as its likely to get. I wonder if im spending too much time/sp debuffing them so im not actually hitting them but I seem to spend as much time healing/buffing/debuffing as damaging them

To give myself a bit of a break from grinding out Persona 5 & Agents of Mayhem - this weekend I decided to go through and Platinum Minecraft: Story Mode.

Now, back to breaking P5

Hard.

I believe it was a case of spamming healing items and mainly using the terribly OP Hassou Tobi. Also, repelling their bless and curse skills deals a lot of damage too.

well i beat them this morning for the achievement but i dropped the difficulty to safety mode lol (i did get to round 26 before getting wiped out on normal). i think tbh my main issue was i diddnt look into it before i tried to do it and by the time i did it was the last day you could do it and i was already in mementos after having killed the giant dick in a wheelchair monster lol so wasnt in a position to buy healing items etc. gained a few levels from it and might try again on easy (as once you put it in safety mode your file is forever set that way once you save and i dont want that but willing to do to get the trophy)

so 4 achievements left (i forgot one last time) make some persona (need either lots of levels or lots of cash but as i haddnt sold anything the entire ng+ playthrough i have 400k of stuff and ive gained about 300k grinding so i might manage to buy the persona im missing for the pokedex trophy . and 2 that should now pop naturally

Well now only 3 trophies left I concocted sataniel last night and beat the twins again (on easy) but boy is sataniel op resists everything and you regain all hp/sp after a fight

Alas, what happens with me with most games occurred with Persona, completed it (story) but then just can't get into the New game+ mode to "clear up". Maybe i'll revisit it in a few months.

I always see people touting NG+ as something desirable, people begging devs to implement it after games launches and stuff and I just... never got the hype.

Am I the only one that doesn't enjoy games being stupid-crazy-difficult? I want a challenge, sure, but I'm more concerned with the narrative than I am the difficulty.

I blame the Souls-esque 'git gud' crowd.

I think it takes considerably more skill from a developer to slowly and invisibly introduce new enemies/concepts/hazards/whatever in a safe® environment that allows the player to figure it out, rather than throwing it at you with no warning and just saying "lol git gud". Game mechanics shouldn't need to be brute-forced by the player in order to be understood.

it took me about a year to get back to it (i did do a ng+ run straight after finishing it but diddnt do a good job of it missed lots of achievements and the one i really wanted by 2 things so i gave up).

it does depend on the game though zelda botw/horizon zero dawn i went back to for the dlc and just couldnt get into again id lost the "muscle memory" (for want of a better term) and just diddnt enjoy them (i even tried starting from 0 in zelda on master mode and diddnt get off the plateau before giving up (as much as i love that game i fear its a 1 shot game its tremendous fun to explore a new world but a lot less to go back maybe if i leave it long enough i dont remember it will work but i fear it at least for me has no replay value unlike lttp which i can play repeatedly)).

then you get xenoblade chronicles 2 which i dumped ~30 hours into since december and teh only thing that got me out of that game was the damn blade rng. did a new game plus as soon as the option came up (it wasnt in 1.0 ) bar a bit of tidy up nobody should do ng+ if they have started Ursula's quests unless they like pain. i will still go back to it as more dlc gets added but the randomness of rare blades just honked me off im missing 4 and must of used 1000's of cores trying to get them

i dont think i usually up the difficulty on my ng+ runs i just want to try different tactics/story options (so saying the worst possible dialogue that you would never do in a new run etc)etc or just experience the story again often i can just mainline the story missions and almost make it into a long movie as on the 1st playthrough i get distracted and you can often see things you missed 1st time.

I dont get the souls thing either i will ramp up difficulty if its too easy (and drop it if i need to) but the point of games for me is fun souls games just look rage quit inducing to me
