Our EYFS teachers have asked for a tablet to use to gather evidence of achievement in nursery and reception. They need images which they then put into Target Tracker. Apparently Target Tracker now has a facility where you can use a tablet and take the picture directly into the kids records.

So - I need to find them a tablet - and it can only be a Windows one. I have contacted Target Tracker and they say any FULL windows tablet will be fine

Problems that I can see are

a) image quality - probably not tooooo much of a problem but a really rubbish camera might not do

b) battery life - must last all day - probably OK to have a boost charge at lunchtime

I have seen plenty from £100 to £200

Anyone else looked at this??

TIA

Mike

In that price bracket I have used a Toshiba Encore 8" model. Nicely made, runs well, pretty impressive for the cost. Only 32 bit and 2GB of RAM but that's par for the course.

Yeah I saw that. I've used a couple and I've been impressed tbh. Enough that I bought my wife one. She still loves it and doesn't hate me so that's a good enough review for me :)

Anyhow, @VeryPC_Colin_M and I could never really fight, we get on too well :D

LOL, I have relaxed my attitude toward the Linx my friend. I think they're a good little device for home users and appropriate requirements. When I checked the camera out on it, I wasn't jumping for joy, a bit grainy if I remember and saves them to the device as quite a large file. Can anyone confirm this who's got one - I might be completely wrong. It defo hits the price band needed and if it runs target tracker then it could be the one for @mikeprice, I agree with @ICTDirect_Dave on that. But..... if you'd rather a device that can do the target tracker and a bit more so you get maximum value, feel free to send me a message; We do a pretty nifty sub £200 Windows tablet that I'm confident would do the job and allow for a bit more usage too.

Not in your price range but I have one of these I won in a VeryPC competition.

Very good bits of kit and would be perfect for this.

I'm setting up a whole bunch of these right now, they where perfect for what we wanted (sturdy, easy to transport tablet which can also be used for standard desktop stuff). I looked at a lot of Win8.1 tablets and liked these the best (for our price range/requirements, YMMV).

I have to agree with some of the statements on the linx10, I would be happy to use one at home but the one I played with at least wasn't ideal (wifi was flakey, camera was not great and it didn't quite feel "robust" enough for the kids to use). That being said however it is cheap, the spec is good for the price and if it is teaching staff that are using it then it might work quite nicely.
