Recommend me a Remote Access solution

Can I have recommendations for a remote access solution?

 

We've been considering Remote Web Access using Windows Server Essentials, but we're struggling to find others using it.

If you have windows 8 clients, or windows 7 enterprise and you can create a PKI then direct access is pretty handy...

We currently use Remote Desktop via the web gateway here. Eventually, one day, we'll move to DirectAccess with SIMS being done via RDS (as it doesn't like sending its SQL over high latency lines).

Budget is flexible... Ideally to give staff remote access to mapped drives/ apps.

Unfortunately the clients are 7 Pro, however I guess moving them over to Enterprise is the best option.

We've got a Server 2008 Terminal Server setup for both staff and students which works well - intact it has probably outgrown it's audience and certainly on a sunday night when the last minute pancreas all sign in, things run a little slow. It's about time we looked at something more robust which can load balance things for us.

We use Remote Spark on a Server 2012 R2 RDS server. We like it because it works on any modern web browser, so OS independent.

Ive ditched team viewer for Screen Connect. Glad I did. I like the whole - self hosted idea.

We use Ericom.

 

I say "use"... it's a thing that is installed and accessible.

 

Currently trying to kick off talks about implementing a password policy [complexity + mandatory changes] as domain credentials are used to access it.

How do you find Ericom? I hadn't heard of them until I saw your post but my manager says they have been round a long time and know their stuff. If you don't mind me asking how much do you pay for their system?

I'd never heard of them either... And RM have been around for a long time, too.

No idea. This is something that was bought without my knowledge.

We use Citrix (remote access and for thin clients), its expensive but awesome.

Take a look at guac-dev.org

 

We are using this and it works a treat in just a standard web browser.

 

It is a 2 form authentication system as it requires a user mysql password which you setup then the AD username and password.

 

Make sure when you install this you use a proxy and do not go directly to the guacamole server as it is a big security risk (I use mod_proxy to redirect the users to the guac server)
