Recommend me a Remote Access solution
lukehem replied to Mr_Jiminy's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Take a look at guac-dev.org We are using this and it works a treat in just a standard web browser. It is a 2 form authentication system as it requires a user mysql password which you setup then the AD username and password. Make sure when you install this you use a proxy and do not go directly to the guacamole server as it is a big security risk (I use mod_proxy to redirect the users to the guac server) If you have any questions just ask im happy to help. One thing i forgot is.... ITS FREE -
Here is 6 of our PC's remoting into an RDP server. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBqHNxyYSW4

I have made a slight change to the bat file so it removes the rdp.rdp file from the script directory after it has copied it to c:\rdp InternalRDP.zip

KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services\ DWORD DisablePasswordSaving set it to 1 Then give the PC a reboot it will remove the tick box.

Not sure they have these restrictions in server 2012 r2

The Terminal Clients are intel Atom N270 / 1.6 GHz - RAM 1 GB PC's (ASUS Eee Top ET1602). I don't see why that shouldn't work in the library. Although if you want staff/pupils to login on them you will have to disable the save credentials button in the registry (if a pupil or a member of staff ticks this box it will auto login as that user every time). Let me know if you want the registry key to disable this. Then each time the PC boots you will basically have a remote desktop login screen asking for credentials. If a user closes this dialog box it will just keep opening.

We have a load of old computers in school (Year 1 and reception). Year 1 and reception have generic usernames and passwords which the teachers log onto the computers with in a morning. The old computers where getting really crappy and wouldnt run much on them so i created a script to remote them into an RDP server with high spec. Check it out (Note that i removed the computers from the domain first). When the computer boots up it will automatically boot into the RDP server. InternalRDP.zip Let me know what you all think?? If you want to know exactly what the script changes ask me

Has anyone setup an LTSP Server? What I am looking at doing is setting up a Windows Multipoint Server and with all the old machines boot them from the network (PXE) and use the LTSP Server to point them to the Multipoint server. I have looked into this but haven't yet found a decent tutorial on how to set this up. The LTSP Server does not need DHCP Server installed as we cannot run two as this will break things. Has anyone on here done this and got it working, if so could you tell me how.

We have a telephone system with 6 digital phones attached and 1 analogue phone attached but we would like to change to digital

We have an analogue telephone connected to our NEC system within school which has another 6 Digital phones connected to it. We are wanting to change the analogue phone to a digital phone. We have been told that all we need to do is change what cables are plugged into the pace plate on the wall then plug in the new digital phone and the phone should power on. Could someone help us on what cables we need to plug into where to make the phone digital. Also does anything need changing on the NEC system which is the master box.

Is anybody on here using Google apps for education at the moment, I have been looking into it and was looking for feedback from schools that are using it at the moment. And is it really FREE? surely there's a charge somewhere? I have just seen the new app called Classroom which looks cool. Could you let me know of the pros and cons?
