Dress Code

I wear smart-casual to work, but at present am wearing a t-shirt and jeans My room is freezing though, so a hoodie has been on and off all day so far.

Hoodies are banned here! So it's a fleece and freeze if it gets too cold for us!

Snickers workwear is amazing - lasts for years. My brother recommended it to me and he's a carpet fitter so needs the toughest. I've had two pairs of thier trousers - no wear after 3+ years of crawling under desks. Not cheap though - but then nothing good ever is...

No jeans here. I wear smart trousers and a neat top. I usually pick up good makes of clothes (Gap, Next, etc) from charity shops so that I look good but don't mind getting grubby etc from the mess under the desks or behind the kit

Smart trowsers and shirts here, tried to get polo shirts but was told ot forget it. If i'm doing something dirty or in the holidays then its jeans and t-shirt for me.

 

They tried to inforce a dress code for all technicains, food\science\tech\ict where we all had to where white jackets 8O needless to say we all got together and made it so we could wear what was approriate for our individual jobs.

Here we seem to dress smarted than the teachers, well the majority of them. we're in shirt and tie etc during term time then we get to wear skags during the holidays. i dont mind, but i always trap my tie in pc's and all sorts of things like that, it can get slightly frustrating.

 

Tried to get my boos to buy aload of snickers stuff but he wouldn't, after he found out pricing. ha.

In my case it’s due to roamers, robots and other moving stuff that tends to find its way under desks. Friday I am in all the control lessons.

 

Hiding under desks is a good way to avoid work. No one finds you and if they do just hold a cable and look busy.

My labret stud doesn't wear away my gums but I have chipped a couple of teeth a little bit so I've got to train myself off playing with it when I'm frustrated with something.

 

I can't leave it out for more than a few hours at a time (three or so) or it starts to close up. I had it done almost 5 months ago now but I'm considering taking it out because of industrial placement next July.

You can buy clear retainer studs which are kind of discreet

Joe - I had one that's what wore my gums away, stick to the metal with a really small bal on or something to keep it pulled away from your gums.

Thanks for the tip. I /do/ have a retainer somewhere. I popped the rubber o-ring off the end and lost it when I was showing my mum.

 

I'll have to get a steel one with a small ball because the ones i've got at the moment are blackline ones...seemed to go better with the black glasses than steel. Hopefully i'll have my next piercing come the new year.

I've never even had a comment about any of my piercings.

 

At the mo I've two top rings in each ear, and 10mm flesh holes in each lobe.

 

No-one seems to mind....

you lucky person... i can cover my ear ones with my hair, so it's not too bad. The headteacher always tells me how horrible my scaffold looks if i'm near him with my hair up... i just laugh!

Like most on here, its the shirt and decent trousers thing for me, although I did do the shirt and tie thing I very quickly found out a tie cannot be worn in IT

 

I dont claim to be that smartly dressed either even though some people would say so (untucked shirt, jean-like trousers - they said smart yet casual!!) I certainly dont wear that in the hols as usually holidays are spent moving dusty computers/cabinets or working around the high school's build project. I've learnt not to wear decent dark trousers when going in there

Thanks to the fact that I spend an inordinate amount of time dealing with inkjet printers and dust covered PC's I've been in jeans and a hockey shirt for years now. Thinking it's time I started saving my jeans for actual leisure time though and the recent conversation about toolbelts and circumspectly the kevlar gear I'm thinking that'd do just the job...

 

If ever I end up with a potential client looking down their nose at me if I'm not in a shirt and tie though I think they sort of miss what the job is all about
