I'm currently ordering about 20 boxes of A4 (5 reams in a box, 2500 sheets of paper) and we're going through them in about 2/3 weeks, mostly between three main photocopiers. Blows my mind.
MatthewL Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I put a copier in a school last year 2 weeks before Christmas and went back in 2 weeks after they started back and it had done 60k pages in that time! With more and more schools I go to these days and the copier is the only printer they have soon makes you realise the quantities some places do and once the business manager finds those totals they soon drop!
hallb15 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Get Papercut installed. Even the free version lets you monitor who prints what, when, how many pages, copies, colour or grey etc... We've printed just over 11K pages this month - I.e. in 9.5 days! Its only going to get worse once the SATS practise papers start being printed for the year 6 classes.

DJ3Dog Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 This is a PaperCut report from the last 30 days, as reported through the Print server. Which means it's not even taking into account system related jobs that have independent print processing. Just one of 3 MFPs this department has....
synaesthesia Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 We're using papercut to good effect, but not to it's fullest potential yet. We actively ban the printing of past/practice papers, there is no reason for them to be printed in this day and age!
rich_tech Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I think when we checked this a couple of years back, we were averaging 1 million pages a year for the year I checked the data on across all printers and MFDs. It is coming down I think slowly and we are reducing the amount of MFDs too gradually to save costs. That being said from what I gather the need to print and prepare stuff in welsh language drives a fair bit of this as textbooks in that medium are lacking/thin on the ground and staff often have to create their own resources or handouts.

truebluesteve Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Varies a bit here but in Jan we printed over 600,000 pages and last month (with a week less for half term) it was 400,000 pages. We use Equitrac to manage print here and it has helped reduce student printing, but not for staff which has gone up. I suspect this is due to the way teaching and learning has changed with individual lesson plans and so on. We also print huge numbers of revision guides. We have a very large printer in our resources office which has a 4 million page life (or duty cycle as they put it). Its past that point and still has over a year to go before it will be replaced. Bonkers!
Disaster Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I just got a monthly update from papercut. I worked it out that we average 10,000 pages a day (staff only). Now, without the photocopier lease agreement and - let's say - 1p per print out, that's £20,000 per year (39 weeks, 5 days a week). I would love to put it to the school business manager that I could save them at least £10k a year if you give me £5k pay rise! Edit: cost of paper not included too.

forkies Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 5.3 Million on one of our copiers in the print room in 3-5 years. The others had done about 1.5 million. We had one job for a departement the other day with 10500 pages. But Papercut is only showing about 60k a week across whole site now we are limiting people.
newpersn Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I'll look at our koncia 951 tomorrow which is not a year old. It's already called a 500k service. Gets used only by 1 person who's trained on it. (I'll go in daily to make sure she got a few boxes of paper. (Tend to go though 5k in a day..)
