Don't see why you're in such a tizz about it yet refuse to put up cameras....

Because it happened, it's spooky, and i'm not here to make movies, i'm here to try and get advice if possible, or see if anyone has had any similar experiences, as well as resolutions if any.

I have seen things that I cant explain -

Being in an empty house and hearing someone walk upstairs and watch the shadow pass the room but no one being there.

Heat expansion making noises, likely headlights or rustling bushes near a light source outside casting shadows.

Driving to a friends house I had never been to before and recognising the road, houses and trees from a dream (before google street view)

Everything we dream is based on something we have experienced. I used to dream about a strange road before I realised it was the road I was brought up on but too young to remember. I also used to dream about a corrupted version of Swanage (it had fields and skyscrapers but the familiar feeling was retained because my brain was referring to childhood memories of it). Sometimes places seem similar to another place and the brain gets cross-wired (common with faces and traumatic events like recalling the face of an attacker). And sometimes a place just happens to occupy an area in your mind that has been forgotten about and used as a point of reference for the new one. Hard to explain but happens to me all the time, especially when trying to recall long forgotten places.

My dad also saw the lady that haunts my Uncles pub, the grey lady and hes not one to lie about things like that.

The pub you say? ;)

6-7 years ago while my brother was home, intruders got in and attempted to take off with about £11,000 of gold chains, rings, heirlooms etc etc.

4-5 years ago attempted burglary in the house, but failed.

2-3 years ago a group of 'black' youths broke into the house, but didn't realize dad was home, they soon ran.

Now we have a 16 camera CCTV system, Triple glazing windows, and our PVC doors have improved locks and hinges. Course this won't stop anyone, but it's to be safe.

Edit: Corrections

After all of that it may just be the fact your paranoid over what has happened before regarding the break ins and your mind is playing tricks on you, it can also be the case that people close to you can fear what you fear or almost see what you see, there was a scientific documentary about this but I can't be bothered to Google it - so the reason your all seeing the same thing could be due to that, or could have been the wind etc... blah blah. Normally there is a proper scientific explanation as too why these things occur.

Ghosts where referred to as "shades" a very long time ago and there were references in the Odyssey about "shades" these where people speaking about what had occurred to the best of their ability. Scientifically we can't prove or disprove the existence of ghosts like Heaven or Hell so it would be very narrow minded to disregard anything like this as false or fake because it could well be a ghost. People will believe what they want to believe, myself? I would of just shrugged it off though you might have a more open mind. It's all a very techy subject which brings in the realism of "Mediums" and "Physics" etc.. using death as a weapon to gain income from other family members is not right in my book and I could never believe in the existence of ghosts because of this.

I used to live in Weston "Very near to Weston Park" we had a conservatory built on that back and when the builders put in the cement for the floor we found the next morning that faces where protruding through the floor, this was because our house and all the houses around that village where built on an ancient burial ground and it seemed the soil had dropped underneath the concrete so naturally the concrete hardened in the structure of their faces and bones buried beneath our house. After the drama was over and police had come to have a look etc... It was only a day or two that my parents started hearing "things" going on in our house, the mind plays tricks on you. Don't believe everything you see.

If you are serious though and are that scared talk to your local priest or get people in to research your house though if you do the latter of course there is a price to pay. If I were you I'd just shrug it off ;)

A few years back we did a tour of Scotland for a week, up the east coast to visit ZeroHour in Aberdeen then up through the highlands and down again.

On our way back we spent our final night at New Lanark, an old mill factory/community with a fantastic series of waterfalls (the Clyde Falls) not far from it and we stayed in the hotel there which is located in one of the old mill buildings.

Because our kids were young (2 and 4 at the time) they had extra beds put in our room which was on the top floor in wing of the hotel. Between midnight and 1am both of our kids had climbed into bed with us (like they do in strange places) and after an uncomfortable few minutes my wife decided enough was enough and she'd sleep in one of the kids beds which was right along my side of the bed.

We were both wide awake at this point.

The very second she climbed in the bed my daughter had just vacated we heard a noise that seemed to be coming from everywhere.

The only way I can describe it was like a bird flapping its wings against the window (which was initially what I thought it was if a bird had decided to roost out there for the evening).

The noise then started to come from various places throughout the room. All the time my wife and I are looking at each other to check if we could both hear this. After a few minutes of this noise, a second noise started up as well.

This noise can only be described as someone dropping a full locker on the floor once every 30 or so seconds from the room next door. We could feel the vibrations from it in our room.

This carried on for a further 10 mins until we decided enough was enough (thinking that it was people in the room next door playing silly buggers) and my wife turned the bedside light on. It was like (literally) a switch being thrown to kill whatever had been making all of this racket. It stopped the instant the light came on.

As it was late we decided to mention it to the desk staff in the morning and went back to sleep. When we got up there was one of the hotel staff in the corridor who turned out to be the floor attendant and we mentioned the noisy neighbours last night. She actually looked a bit shocked and explained that there was only one other occupied room on our floor last night and they were at the other end of the corridor. She also told us that the hotel had a bit of a reputation amongst staff for strange goings on, but they don't make a big noise about it for fear of losing trade

To this day my wife and I still have no idea what went on there that evening, but something was in the room with us and making a noise. Even our kids woke up and heard it.

It only made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up the next day driving home when we discussed it at length.

We also had an experiance a couple of years after that which I won't post up here for various reasons. But I had experianced nothing before or after these two incidents. It certainly opened my eyes.

So two people at least have suggested putting cameras up to monitor (me included aswell, so three..)and you blankly say no....seems a bit backwards if you ask me, especially on a subject such as this. Which a few people believe are made up/have alternative answers that aren't spooky. ( @CAM and @X-13 spring to mind)

just For The Record, i don't believe, but my Mum has claimed shes seen stuff, that's about as far as it gets.

Mate, how are you not on the same level as me? surely.... that's proof-ish.... that there's some form of entity around.... O.O wow.....

Because of chance encounters that I cant explain?

Because I once ate a banana does not make me a monkey.

I do think there is something to it, more along the lines of an ESP type scenario, where instinct makes us do something and upon looking back think wow.

My nan knitted two sets of baby clothes before she passed, years later I had twins, either she knew or was just prepared.

She said to me before I went to Vegas, you will win big, I did. Lucky guess or did she know?

Its all how you interpret it.

Did the decision to stay in the same pub one night instead of going to another keep me from witnessing and possibly being involved in a fight that killed someone?

Was that a shadow and someone walking up stairs of the heating turning on and a large bird flying past the window at the exact correct angle?

Did the fish slicer , which happened to be balanced just so it fell at that moment, strike something as it fell and changed its trajectory or was it thrown at you?

What is a fish slice??

This is also the part I'm curious about

Where the heck do you live?!

Can't say I place any stock in ghosts, and believe that there are much more prosaic explanations for such occurrences. That said, I'd be willing to change my mind if anything like you described happened to me personally.

Be sceptical. "Because ghosts!" is not a logical explanation, because ghosts are not something that is proven (or even likely) to exist. Apply Occam's Razor - "Among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected". Ghosts as an explanation assumes too many.

It's also very easy to trick your memory into believing something happened, when it didn't.

Ghosts, poltergeists etc are among the most investigated phenomena for which no objective, reproducible evidence has ever emerged.

On the other hand, the human brain is one of the most malleable, least reliable witnesses and will invent signals when patterns are presented to it which need explanation. From seeing faces in clouds to hearing voices in the wind, our minds are better than good at making sense of patterns, we make signals out of noise where no signals exist. I do a coin trick where in the middle of the trick I make people think they see a coin (I hold up my hand as if showing them a coin), when it's just not there. When someone tells you how to do the trick, it seems unbelievable that people could look at an empty hand and see a coin, but it's pretty reliable and repeatable. The biggest bar to pulling the trick off is that you, the illusionist, think you can't possibly get away with it.

So when there is an event, and the explanation is Ghosts, there is always a simpler explanation - usually that someone's brain is fooling them.

Speaking of people looking for patterns where there are none and leaping to conclusions, did you guys know they found Dracula on Mars?

(yes, that tiny rectangle in the middle of that circle - positioned three quarters on to the camera - is supposedly a coffin, according to Silly People)

It's good hard evidence but I remain unconvinced.

You don't want to put a camera up - fair enough - but you have a 16 camera CCTV system already installed. Unless you live in a massive mansion - surely one of these points in the general direction of one of these happenings and could provide some clue as to what actually happened?

DISCLAIMER: I am not arguing what may or may not have happened regarding ghosts etc (It's never really brought up, i have never experienced it, so why would i believe it?) I'm just curious as to why, if you did think you saw something, why you wouldn't try and record it, especially if it's multiple instances, not hard to get a video camera (PHONE) to hand.

For the low, low price of £500 I'll do an exorcism that GUARANTEES there are no ghosts in your house afterwards.

I thought we had a ghost in our house a few years ago.

It started when one morning, I woke up and at the bottom of the stairs, a bust of Nefertiti (one of my mom's ornaments) was sat, staring up the stairs, and beneath it was a perfectly straight line of glass leading to the back door.

Over the coming months, the Nefertiti bust would seem to have moved itself to all sorts of places around the house.

I was starting to get a bit freaked out and my mom was ready to burn the thing, then it stopped.

5 years later, my younger brother finally admitted it was him all along, getting up in the middle of the night to mess with us, and confirmed his place as the most dedicated troll I know. (Seriously, a perfectly straight line of broken glass - that's dedication!)

There is always a logical explanation.

I think as others have said, for your own peace of mind it is easier to remain skeptical. I've had experiences I can't outright explain, but then again I can't outright explain why this MSI isn't deploying correctly either.. but I digress.

When I was quite a bit younger, my grandmother and I were talking about my (recently deceased at the time) grandfather - she was saying that he was still in the house keeping her company, at that moment a picture of my grandfather that was on the mantle fell over.

Really creeped me out at the time but my grandmother was fine with it, as if it happened to her all the time. I can't explain why it fell over or why it did so with such good timing.. but that doesn't mean there aren't 100 other likelier reasons than ghosts!

Believe what makes you feel most comfortable, as long as you aren't messed up and trying to steal money from grieving people then it's fine.

I'll beat that offer at £450 and will even print you a certificate out to show your friends :)

Have you not learnt anything from this thread... if your MSI doesn't deploy properly people. It's a ghost. End of discussion.
