Hi guys,

This relates to a recent post by someone else, but i decided to make a new post as I didn’t want to change the subject on the other. Well anyway...

Every user has a wallpaper of some kind, this Christmas me and another technician would like to make a Christmas wallpaper to get everyone in the festive spirit!

We need some inspiration so if you could show us what you have or leave some comments it would be helpful.

Thanks

You have to be careful these days. I was going put up a Christmas tree or mistletoe toe saying happy winter solstice. But I figure some someone would get upset not knowing they are parts of Christmas are pagan.

Might do something more subtle like a mushroom in a forest covered in snow. Hopefully that will not upset anyone.

Using a HTML page as a desktop with falling know and other animations works well.

They do as far as I'm "aware" as majority of staff & students do..

/me my thoughts are my own and may not be that of the schools

Yeah, add some snow to whatever you already have. You want to avoid making it a "Christmas" wallpaper as this is a religious theme and therefore could be considered un-pc to advertise on religion and not any others (stupid I know, but what can you do?) and instead just make it a winter-holiday-festival-themed background.

I know at our school we were not allowed to celebrate Halloween as it was a pagan festival - not even a pumpkin screensaver!

Last year the head where I was in the Christmas assembly (in the local church) put the point across that it was CHRISTmas, and not "Winter Shopping Festival", and that people should remember that.

It's a standard LEA school and the only church affiliation they have is a Christian Union.

Also, my Hindu mate and his family celebrate Christmas, and my Muslim mate and his family celebrate Christmas - so to hell with this political correct-ness nonsense and set the desktop to be a nativity scene!

I am not being funny or anything here but people see a nativity scene boring.

I don't, I like it when the children ask questions about the nativity scene and you can answer them with details about the true Christmas story from the bible.

So I certainly DON'T find it boring at all.

Sorry, but Christmas is just one of the holidays celebrated at this time of year. As someone pointed out earlier, it is also Winter Solstice. I'd be offended if someone forced me to have a religious specific desktop so wouldn't force it on anyone else. But as I said, something generic and seasonal - like snow, is fine.

Say what you like Zak, I know what you said & I know what you meant.

Anyway, Tech_Guy has the right idea.

Like i said people (i.e. not necessarily me), if it was me I was talking about I would have said so. To be honest it doesn't actually bother me if it was or if it wasn't.
